Well the paperwork and interview are finished and I'm just waiting to see if I get in. Just wanted to start this thread for others in the Nov 2011 boards and see who the competition is. Good luck to everyone.
Oh, a quick rundown on me. I'm 33 with 2 years ICU, ER, and Supervisor experience graduating with my BSN in May 2012. I'm seeking anykind of commissioning but hopefully a flight or ICU position. I'm an active individual so not really worried about the PT, just ready to get going serving my country.
WOW. What a wait that you had to go thru. So, this will prob be how it goes for us.
Waiting for this process...I have passed up a few opportunities understanding that it would go differently.
But, you are right, we have gone this far and this isn't the time to give up on the process yet.
Truly though, the hurry up and wait mentality is gruesome. The hoops that we had to jump thru to hurry and get all the documents to them only to go thru delay after delay for one reason or another....
I have not heard either. Text my recruiter and she said she would let me know good news or bad news. I wasn't getting my hopes up too high to hear by Thanksgiving. (...yet I find myself checking my phone like a girl waiting for a call from a guy!) But waiting until March! Geezzz! That will be painful. I am holding out for "by Christmas" now. No one told me that, but I need mental deadlines. I keep hearing about the Super Committee and how if they don't get the budget straight (ok, actually make that past tense, I read they failed), that the defence budget will get cut. I think, "Why now! Why when I (we) are waiting for this board". Is anyone up to speed on that? I listen to the news but I have a hard time putting the pieces together. OK, good luck all!
Same here...good or bad, my recruiter would let me know.
the super committee flopped and the cuts to the defense are projected into the billions!
this shouldnt effect the 2012 budget because it has already been approved by congress. We should be okay...for the small number that is projected to be picked up this year, anyway.
I got my 2nd choice and I'm in San Antonio.
I have had a busy year and a half. I haven't had the normal road of most new into the AF. After COT, I inprocessed and did paperwork for about a month at my unit. then orientation for 6 full weeks - which was a bit of overkill, but oh well. After being at my unit for under 3 months, I got sent back to Maxwell Alabama for 2 months for another course. (I was so glad to leave there after COT I couldn't believe I had to go back!). It was good though. Then I was working on getting ready for deployment and the holidays happened. I had 3 weeks in Baltimore for a really awesome Trauma nursing class. 2 weeks back at San Antonio, then off to the middle East. ..... and now I'm back. Whirlwind trips all around!
So all that waiting has definitely paid off. There is always paperwork, more classes, more checklists, more waiting. It is a way of life in the military. Just think of it as no news is good news, as you are still in the running.
That budget stuff... you can't do anything about it, so don't worry about it where this is concerned.
Glad to find this thread, it would of course be the week we should be finding out if we were selected. I have not heard anything yet but am calling my recruiter for sure tomorrow. I am applying fully qualified with 8.5 years experience in both critical care and operating room. They would only allow be to choose one specialty so I chose the ICU track with the goal to eventually go to CRNA school. By reading other blogs, Im glad to know I'm not the only one stressed. I know boards met Nov 1 onto the second week because my recruiter said they were looking at my packet and had asked for some additional something/competencies. My frustation is that he didnt even bother to call me to verify that additional something he sent was the best source of information to showcase my experience, this making me more nervous about my chances of getting in. At the time, he also just knew that that before thanksgiving was the timeline they would let us know. I know last year, boards met last week of October and my friend got her call Nov.15. As far as how many they are selecting, I was told 73 and that they select close to half that number on the November boards then rest on Feb boards and so on. According to my recruiter, The needs for critical care are 20 something, operating room is 32 and dont have any idea on the other specialties. And confused on if those numbers are based on the 73 clinical nurse needs total for fiscal year 2012 or if its 73 plus the specialty needs. Good luck to everyone and hope that we hear something soon.
Hey y'all! I'm new to this board but I've been following yalls conversation the past few days as I've been in the same boat.. Supposed to hear something on november 18th. Just wanted to encourage everyone that you will most likely know something whenever your recruiter gets back from thanksgiving holiday! My recruiter is in Nashville, TN and I just received a call from him this afternoon with my results and I'm guessing all the recruiters get the results at the same time? Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful week with friends and family and food! And I really hope y'all all get good news reAlly soon:) -Leigh

Just so you all know... what you are going through with this waiting process is the NORM.
Don't Panic. And try not to hold your breath waiting.
If you went back 2 years ago, we all posted the same things on here. I was supposed to hear back before that Thanksgiving and go in January. No answer at all came, my poor recruiter - me harassing him regularly. I waited until March before I got word that I was accepted and I left in May. I am glad at how it worked out for me.
You've doubtlessly had a long drawn out process fighting for this job. Don't loose hope now.
