AF COT 08/23/2010 Anyone Else out there?

Hey All,

I will be going to COT on 08/23/2010. Are there any other people going to be there at the same time? I know that I am very early in posting this but I'd rather be months early than 1 minute late. :D I would just like to get to know someone in advance if possible.

I got a called from my recruiter on Friday saying that I GOT SELECTED too!! :) Congratulations to those who have heard!!! I'm so excited to see what's ahead. Let me know when you hear about any definite dates for anything. My recruiter wasn't able to give me any at the time. I will be seeing him on Wednesday to sign my acceptance letter and to provide fingerprints for a background check. What an exciting time!

See you in Alabama in August :-) From there I'm headed to NTP and Duty Station at Keesler. I opted not to put my RN experience on my paperwork before commissioning because with nearly a year since graduating (5/2009) currently and working in a nursing home after 7 months searching for a job, I think I need NTP : )

Did anyone start a facebook group yet or should I do it?

I met the November 2009 boards and didn't hear anything until February. And from what I hear, new grad placement for COT and NTP is out to March 2011.

Jay, if you would like to start a Facebook page, go for it! To my knowledge, no one else has done so. I did not know it at the time I started this discussion board but I believe we will be in the 10-06 class.

Has anyone heard anything about loan repayment? I'm still waiting and HOPING I'll get mine. Lord knows, in poor economic times like these, We Need It! From what I've heard on other discussion boards people have been put on an Alternate list with no further word yet. I was also told from my recruiter that the military as a whole is requesting more funds from congress for this and other purposes. *fingers & toes crossed!!*

Anyway, Its great to meet all of you!

I will also be attending COT on 8/23. I think it was back in December/January that I found out I was accepted and that I will also be going to Lackland! The wait seemed like forever from finishing the application process in September. I'm under Med-Surg. I was told their were two choices going in...Med-Surg or OB. I've noticed some people already know what floors they will be on..someone said they are going to be on a cardiac floor? How do you know that already? Anyways, Congrats to all!!! I can't wait to finish school this May and start everything in August! I joined the facebook group :)

Is it true that after COT 10-06 there won't be another COT class until March 2011?! My recruiter mentioned that there would be one in October 2010 and one in January 2011. He also told me that my window to leave would be between August and January, but since I don't have any definite dates yet I'm getting a bit worried about whether or not I should look for a temporary job until then.

Any advice on what I should do? Thanks in advance!

I would definetely get a job in the meantime to keep busy, gain some experience and save some money. This way you won't just sit around wondering, you will be focussed on something.

My guess is things will hold up as they have in years past, and after 10-06 there will be 11-01 - in October, the start of the new fiscal year. The class for October 2010 is actually COT 11-01, not 10-06, because the military year runs from October 1 to September 30 (this will be FY 2011). And yes, after 11-01 will be 11-02, which is in January 2011, because 11-01 will end just about a week before Thanksgiving, there will be an RCOT class in early December, and then the standard 5 week COT again in January, after the holiday.

I was COT 10-01 - in October 2009.
