Advice needed on Personality 'Fit' to Specialty Choice

Published

I'm a Nursing Student, RN via Assoc Degree, will graduate 2006...I've wondered if there's a 'personality' test that helps show you what field of nursing would best suit a person. I would appreciate advice from experienced RN's about what Personality fits what specialty in their opinion. Reba

Specializes in NICU.

Yeahhhhh, NO.

Oh well. I guess I'm too special to be defined. :p

Anyway, neonatology wasn't even on the list. Although it did put family practice at the very bottom, which is correct. But radiology and urology at # 1 and #2? NO, thank you.

Psychiatriy was #1 for me on the test, and I feel that most of psychiatry is bunk and I don;t know if I'd ever enter that field. The thing is, I kept answering that I don;t mind not knowing things, that I don;t need hard and fast answers and that I love to listen. So i get stuck with psychiatry. Pulmonology is second. Might be because so many COPD'ers have anxiety issues. COPD'ers drive me cuckoo!

I got about 3 different kinds of surgery, the ER which is what I want to do. How very Nostradamus

aloha

Haha jeeze cute test...

Specializes in OR.

Ha- that was pretty darn accurate. I work in an OR and do a lot of cystoscopies(to the point where one of the docs nicknamed me the "member wrangler"). My top two specialties listed when I took the test were urology and thoracic surgery.(I also enjoy doing the lung cases) Bottom specialty was OB/GYN- I hated my maternity rotation (love babies-don't like working with the moms)
