I'm a Nursing Student, RN via Assoc Degree, will graduate 2006...I've wondered if there's a 'personality' test that helps show you what field of nursing would best suit a person. I would appreciate advice from experienced RN's about what Personality fits what specialty in their opinion. Reba

Not that I know of. Why don't you just listen to your gut? After going through your clinicals, you should have a better idea of what appeals to you. It's really about following your interests as they present themselves, and trial & error.

I took this little personality test to see where I might "fit in" best as far as nursing goes. It's actually on a med school website, but it works for nursing as well. I wasn't surprised with my answers, actually...lol...especially when I saw that the last on the list was OB/GYN. I don't care where your fundus is or how boggy your uterus is...teehee!!! :chuckle Give me a patient on a vent and drips anyday over a woman in labor. Babies are cool but I don't care much for the mommy part of it. :uhoh21:

That is a cool test :) I took it and many of the top answers are things I am interested in... I work in pediatrics now, and that was 6th on my list, and number 1 was psych and I am VERY interested in doing that later in my career!

Interesting site, Melanie. It said I should be in ortho...which is where I started many, many years ago! LOL Maybe I should have stayed there!

I think you will find your niche during clinicals.......The area that interests you most.

That site was awesome! I've always wanted to take a "test" like that...and it turned out that my results matched exactly with what I'm looking at...oncology - followed by peds.
Thanks for the site!

[well, i must be doing something right! not only do i work at that hospital (gave the guess away), but i'm working in the or...i checked out in surgery for 5 out of the top ten. no big surprise. the questions are given over and over on purpose. they ask the same questions to see how your ranking changes over time, and after other kinds of questions.

I must not have been honest with my responses or something...cuz it put my 1st choice as gastroenterology and dermatology 2nd. I would hate being a dermatology nurse and dislike endoscopy nursing LOL.
