Hello all,

It seems like an impossible task, to get any sort of work in the Bay Area, let alone a travel gig.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice for an ED RN with 1 year of experience looking to work in and around the Bay Area....

which companies have good contacts... how to proceed etc.

Thanks!

You need more experience to easily secure a travel contract here. It's not impossible...but you're competing with a LOT of experienced nurses who have a lot of travel experience as well.

Yes thanks, thats kinda what I thought.... any advice though?

Good companies etc..

You are probably best off starting with a large agency such as Cross Country and working any assignment you can get. After 2 years total experience and a year of travel experience, you will be much better positioned to get into the Bay area. Another possibility is American Mobile. They are the vendor manager for Stanford, and will preferentially submit their own travelers for openings their over their subcontractors. But many hospitals will not consider travelers without prior travel experience anyway.

HRN has a office in San Jose. You might try them. I don't know about experience though.

I know Stanford has posted positions for travel nurses (about 40 min away from San Fran), but that was for NICU

I dunno. My agency has abuot 8000 postings for Oakland right now.

I have no clue what's going on in Oakland but there are travel jobs in ED. Lots of em

How hard is it for an ER nurse with 14 years experience but only one travel assignment experience?

You should be fine. Try talking to several agencies about it.

which agency are you using that seems to have alot of oakland contracts?
