Welcome! Are you interested in nursing?

Specializes in L&D.

Each choice has it's positives and negatives, it really depends on your individual situation. I struggled with it for a while.

Pros for BSN- obtaining a bachelors degree

more marketablility (depending on area)

Easier transition to higher degrees

Pros for ADN- more affordable

able to start working as a nurse sooner (in some cases)

less classes required

This should be a sticky or pinned topic. It seems like this is asked every few weeks, thread gets buried and then another pre-nursing student asks the same question without searching for past threads.

Specializes in ICU.

Research the job market in your area.

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

YES, this needs to be a stickied topic!!

OP, there are SO many posts about this. Go through the fora.

General points- look at the job market in your area. Also consider what you want to do as a nurse.

One thing to note- some BSN programs are the same length as ADN programs (here, both are two years). So there's nothing faster about going for your ADN first.
