Hi I was offered an Admissions, RN position in a health care facility (NY). I will be for interview on Friday so I want to prepare myself for this. What is the main responsibility of an Admission nurse in an LTC? What are the questions that I should also ask the DON? And do u have any ideas with the pay scale? Thanks. This is my first job interview after waiting for 2 months

I've seen two kinds of Admissions RNs. The first one does the admission paperwork after the resident has been accepted and admitted to the facility. The second goes to the hospital and screens potential admissions. Just ask what the job entails. Most of the first kind of admission nurses get paid what the staff nurses do.

If you live in a managed care area, either know or have the ability to quickly learn what all the different haelth plans will cover (payor sources). Be able to not only screen what a resident's needs are but, what will be the cost of caring for that resident (meds, therapy, tx). Does the resident require any tx that your nurses can not provide. The pay scale i had was the same as a floor nurse. i have now taken the position out of the nursing dept and turned it over to social services.

Some places might have you do some marketing or have a sales plan too.
