I've done my research for the admission requirements for mature student so I know whats needed, but can't find any info on what the schools look at for a mature applicant.
My situation is that I will be applying to all the GTA schools for their BScN programs, but because I don't have the equivalent Ont high school diploma I'm forced to apply as a mature student which is cool. I have been told by some schools that I need to submit my Quebec HS diploma and my CEGEP grades, but the BIG question is will those marks be used to guage my overall average for admissions OR will they soley look at the average mark from my pre-req's that I am working on now?
I'm concerned because my high school and CEGEP marks back some 10yrs ago when I was young and more interested in hanging with friends and going the teenager thing were less than stellar, say low 70's, but as I see it I hope to have an overall average of high 80's for my 4 pre-req's.
Can any mature students here help me out?
Thanks

I applied as a mature student to my RPN program and I did not have my HS diploma.I did the stupid teenage thing as well and was about 3 credits short of my diploma. I don't know how much they pay attention to your marks from HS but I am pretty sure the mars from your pre-reqs will be looked at. I would be pretty sure you will be fine.

You could contact the schools that you are applying to and see what they say. I would hope that they would put more emphasis on your recent prereqs than what you did years ago. Even if you get wait listed, you still have a very good chance of getting in as people often change their mind about nursing school.
The problem with doing that is that when I call admissions I usually end up talking to a student that only knows the general admission requirements for each program and not the in's and out's of the actual selection process. Trying to talk to someone in the nursing dept is hard I have found, messages not returned or people are just not available.

Find out who the Dean of Student Affairs is and contact that person.
