Admission to BHSON 2014

U.S.A. Connecticut

Published

Hi,

I recently submitted my application to Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing for this fall. Who is with me? I'm so excited yet nervous. I hope I get in. Anyone got and acceptance letter ye?

that's why I made sure to say an eventual pathway for BSN as UB is still working out the accreditations necessary to have a BSN program. I am well aware that it is just a BS in health science for now but I am sure that is the direction they are moving in as UB use to have a nursing program 20 years ago and they are eventually looking to fully take over BHSN program. This may not be for everyone but like Jenna said we come on these forums for information and the sharing and gathering of them, so I thought it wise to inform everyone of this new development.

I was attempting to be honest. My apologies for coming across short.

This is agreement is young with many details to be worked out, curriculum to be written and approvals to be had. I wish the best for it, but I would like to know how this is going to influence this class of students. It seems very sudden to me as I was in orientation not long ago and there was no mention.

For anyone who gets

waitlisted...I found out Monday that I got into ct community college program at northwestern I will be giving up my seat at bhsn today! Good luck to all of you:)

@pct2620 is there a reason your picking the CC over BHSN? Just wondering I'm in the same boat had my heart set on BHSN didn't think Gateway was an option, I too was accepted into the CC programs. I have mixed feelings for both. Now I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Half of my friends say GWCC the other BHSN i know people who have graduated from both.

Most of us are in the same boat. Before I found out that I was accepted into nvcc I was sooo gung-ho about going to bhsn. Then I went to nvcc yesterday and found out that my entire tuition and books would be covered with a refund and that was all scholarships and grants, no loans. Besides the money aspect there are a lot of other reasons and scenarios going on in my head. idk. I do feel a bit selfish holding onto a seat that someone else would love, so I have to figure it out soon. guess ill have to make a pros and cons list!!

Ms. Jodi...same boat here. Such a hard choice. The tuition difference was less for me (STCC is out of state unless I can work some magic). Either was you come out an RN and I have seen great RNs come out both. You put them side to side you never know where they went. A good or bad nurse is based on the person, not the school.

Many reasons. But first I would like to say that I was all set to pick bhsn but I found out the tuition was a lot more. Also all my pre reqs and co reqs I paid out of pocket and it would just be stupid of me not to be able to get my associates degree after I paid thousands of dollars for all those classes and put in all the hard work. This year I am eligible for financial aide because I turn 24 and will be independent (according to the government even though I've been on my own since I was 18.) And northwestern is a lot closer to me than bridgeport so I won't have to pay as much in gas as well. Bhsn from what I hear is an amazing program but at the end of the day the cc program is a better option for me:) good luck to all of you in the same boat...I know it's a hard decision but whatever you decide it will work out :)

Thanks, it's such a tuff choice.

Good luck everyone!

Good luck to everyone! It's awesome to hear that many of you were accepted into more than one school. :) I can't imagine how tough the decision is to choose between two or more great programs. All the best to you all.

I heard that GWCC has an excellent program from multiple people. That program is actually my second choice.

Yes I was choosing between BHSON & GWCC.. I know people from both.. From what I hear GWCC is still newer and organization has been an issue, I want to pay for a program that is going to benefit me for my future as a nurse.. Good luck to all going and I'm sure no matter what, like someone said it is the person not the school. But I chose BHSON because of their amazing reputation and they've been around for over 100 years (the Nursing program). The staff at Bridgeport seem like they really want to provide the tools to succeed (not easy, but help). Gateway is ten times cheaper, but as I see it associates or not, we're going to have to go right back for our BSNs anyways right after so. But that is just my opinion from others' feedback.
