Admission to BHSON 2014

Published

Hi,

I recently submitted my application to Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing for this fall. Who is with me? I'm so excited yet nervous. I hope I get in. Anyone got and acceptance letter ye?

Some really exciting new coming out if BHSN today they completed a deal with the university of Bridgeport that would open a prenursing pathway for UB students and an eventual BSN track for BHSN students. Things are still being worked out but exciting nonetheless. This really cements my decision to choose BHSN over NCC.

Yes I've heard many complaints about Gateway. A friend of mine even left the program and she worked so hard to get there in the first place so that says something about it. (In my opinion) and my friend graduates from Bridgeport this coming week and said it's truly a great program at BHSON.

I've seen young deals like that not turn out the best. UB does not have a nursing program so there is a lot of construction to be had. I settled on STCC because of their amazing articulation agreements with UMass and AIC (RN+BS to msn). Along with other schools.

Yes BHSON has articulation with SHU, Fairfield, SCSU and one other CT college (RN-BSN). But after you get your BSN, I recommend you do BSN-DNP instead of BSN-MSN-DNP, that is if you intend on continuing education. I thought I'd put it out there because people do think you need to do your masters, although you can jump right to DNP from BSN.

I have no desire to be a DNP.

So, you're saying that from BSN you can go right to DNP? Really? I never knew that!

Because I don't want to teach and I want to work the floor. The only reason I pursue MsN vs BSN is I already have a BS.

At the open house Bridgeport held the other day they were going over the agreement they have with UB. You take your pre-req classes anywhere either UB, the community college or any other school. You go to Bridgeport for the 2 year program and then go back to UB for one final year to finish taking classes and credits to earn your BS it's not a BSN. It's a BS in Health Science. BHSN also has agreements with Fairfield U, Southern CT, and Sacred Heart U. For RN-BSN. However a lot of people completing the BHSN program or applying to the BHSN already have their bachelors and in that case can go right to MSN. It's always good to find out all of the information first. I think all of the agreements BHSN has are great. They are a way for you to get your foot into the door as a student if you ever want to continue your education. Showing that you graduate from BHSN when applying to those schools will look good. Most of them offer BSN, MSN AND DNP. It's just a matter of how you want to continue your education.

Read the article on the CT Post. It sounds more like a take over.

However you cut it the BS won't be ready for the incoming class and they won't be accredited.

And I could care less about working my but off for a BS in Heath Science. I can get that at Charter Oak for 1/4 the price. It doesn't get you working in a magnet hospital.

This is a discussion board. It's for all of us to talk about what we know, what we don't know and what we want to know. It's not a place for you to put other peoples ideas down or to put down paths that other people might look at. We are all here trying to help one another or seeking help for ourselves. So try to keep your bad attitude to yourself. It's toxic.
