ACNP vs FNP for Dermatology?

Hello. I am an RN working in critical care, however I would ultimately like to be a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Dermatology. My question is whether it would be more appropriate to earn an FNP or ACNP certification. Does it matter which you choose? Would it influence where you could work?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Your thread has been moved to our Nurse Practitioners forum. Good luck to you!

The best fit for Dermatology is FNP.

It may help to get a part time gig in a derm practice as an RN so they can scoop you up as an APRN once you finish.

My input is purely anecdotal but a friend of mine that I worked with in the CICU became a Derm NP and she did the FNP track.

FNP. Welcome to the big boys/girls club. You'll love derm. Lucrative. Bad acne creeps me out and is hard to lookk at otherwise I'd try out that specialty. I do have some zit expressing and other derm tools.
