If you are an ACNP, what type of settings do you work in? Have you held other jobs?
I know where research has told me many ACNPs find jobs, but just curious what the general consensus is of posters here.
I am starting my DNP in August with Chatham University. I do believe that the DNP degree needs to be made much more uniform like the BSN and MSN degrees. Currently there is a lot of variability, which at times can hamper credibility. Perhaps not so in the case, who knows really. I do wish it had more hands on clinical touch to it. Some post-MSN dnp programs, but I've noticed these tend to be ones geared towards those looking to add another specialty.
Either way, I chose to continue with my DNP because I want to teach at the university level. There are several universities according to my research that will allow DNP faculty and not just PhD holders.
Just my 2¢.
Glad to see some action on these boards! I'm applying for a few ACNP programs and watch this forum like a hawk.
Unfortunately, as Juan said, there aren't many ACNPs who post more often I wish there were! But I have noticed there are quite a few of us who are students or will be this Fall...so I'm excited for that and hope it can produce more action for the acute care world here. :)

I never stated that my opinion is that having my doctorate will make me a better clinician, for me It is purely about education, higher learning and the fact that I truly enjoy school and learning. Your argument may be meant for somebody else you know that is trying to defend a doctorate in other ways, I don't feel I have to defend the degree I choose though. To each its own...
