ACLS help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just graduated in July took my test August 5th and got a hospital that I rotated at I felt so lucky to have a job so fast. But today was my first day of orientation and they told me you don't have an ACLS card we signed you up for the class on August 27th. 0.o holey tar I don't know what to do they said study this book you should be ok. I took the practice test in the provider manual and got an 86 without even looking at the book is the real test just like the one on the website of where you place the access code? Because if it is I think I might be ok I mean it's more looking for what looks right. Is there any advice that can be given? I am a very quiet person and don't speak up much or talk real loud and one of my coworkers said I would most likely do badly in the mega code because I don't "voice up" as she said. Any advice I feel like my brain is going to fall out of my head there is so much to do any I have the rest of my orientation the 21, 22,23,24,25 and the 26th of this week so it does not really give me time to study so any advice from people who have just taken it I would greatly appreciate it.

.

I was nervous about the megacode but every class I've taken is very relaxed about it and if you get stuck they help you out. Look at the algorithms, study the drugs and dosing. Do practice scenarios. These classes are taught to make sure everyone passes so if you have trouble they'll help you out. It's really nothing to freak out about.

((HUGS)) take a deep breath in...let it out....it will be ok. It should be 2 days for your first time so check with your educator. You already got 86% on the test......ACLS is a collaborative effort, Study the drugs and common dosages. Know causes of some of the rhythms like pulseless electrical activity. NEVER listen to a co-workers horror stories.

If it's pulseless start CPR, always check your pulses, rhythms...slow, fast, absent, no pulse. Fast, no pulse shock; fast, weak pulse, cardiovert; slow, pace; no pulse/absent, CPR, drugs, treat underlying cause.

There...simple right?

Don't panic you will do fine;)

I took and passed the class as a new grad without problems. Before I even found a job. Will I be running a code anytime soon? Heck no. Did I know what to do and the roles and the drugs etc and did it give me the confidence to participate in a code during the first few weeks at work? Heck yes.

Oh yea, you will do fine by the way!!

Relax. During your mega code, which is just one scenario they pick at random from the instructor guide, you direct your "team". Start with the ABCs and go from there. The class is two days, and they take you through all of the stations, with practice at each one, quite a few times. Learn your drugs, and get the basics of your rhythms down.

You'll do fine.

It's no longer the ABC's.....
