I just received a letter saying that I was accepted into the Practical Nursing program at my local community college Classes begin August 22nd, but orientation isn't until two weeks before. Needless to say, I'm a nervous wreck now because I'm completely clueless about the program. Maybe I should've researched more before applying but I really didn't think I would get accepted on the first try. I was just wondering how soon into the program do clinicals usually begin? This particular program has a set schedule (7am-2pm) so are clinicals done during this time or after classes? How often do you have clinicals? I've also been told that I will need a physical and background check, will I need this while I'm in school or before I apply for a license? Also, I spent 24 hours in a hospital five years ago because of what they called a post traumatic syndrome or something like that, and I was wondering if that could prevent me from getting a license or from even finishing the program? Someone mentioned that I might have to report that and undergo an evaluation. I plan on setting up an appointment with an advisor to ask these questions, but if anyone else has the answers, I would really appreciate it. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Nikki--just wanted to say welcome & congratulations on your acceptance. As far as your questions regarding clinicals, you'd have to check with your school. Good luck to you & keep us informed!

That is great news Nikki Congratulations
I would get everything required together and enjoy whatever time you have left before beginning.
