It has been such a long time since I last posted
Last time I posted that I got denied from RN OCC with my 3.6xx; however, I just got a letter yesterday from OCC again that I am accepted for the LPN. I applied with my 3.69x (prereqs are less than RN.)
I think I will do LPN first and then bridge to RN later because LPN starts Jan 2011. RN starts Sept 2011 which I am not sure I will get accepted or not. So it's better to grab something to begin with.
Yay! I finally did it! :)
Thanks Ashley,
I just got a packet from school and starting to do some paperworks that are required by school. I didn't realize it cost a lot of money to be a student nurse!
Criminal background check - $95, TB skin test - free at Health department, Influenza vaccination - $11 at Health department, Hepatitis B $75 at Health department also, medical checkup - don't know how much yet....
Scrubs, school patch, stethoscope, penlight, books, etc.... I'm BROKE!!!! but happy. :)
Just remember that all the money you are spending right now you will get back within the first year of working as nurse!! The program is waaay cheaper than a lot of the others out here so that is definitely a benefit in itself! Just keep on working and things will be great! Be sure to keep us updated on how things are going once you all start the program!
It's actually from NSO or something like that.
It's a professional Liability Insurance which costs around $35 annually. Not that bad I guess.
Some might. I went to health department to get my TB and flu shot done.
Flu shot is only $11 and I think they accept insurance. TB test is free.
I got drug screen done and I'm going to get my finger print on Monday.
As far as CPR, I don't know yet. I called a friend who owns CNA school. He provides free training for me but I have to work that day. Can't trade free training with a couple of hundreds dollars.
I think I will see you again on Dec 10th. And I'll bring you those cDs.
Let me know if you need more info.
I just got my pharmacology book but can't get handon yet cuz all the workload I am having right now.

You mean CPR course at auburn hills?
You can train with the school but it costs $50. However, you are not obligated to.
You can go any where as long as it's Heath care provider CPR course thats from red cross or american heart association.
My friend who owns CNA school will have CPR course next Friday. If you want to, let me know.
I'm done all those fingerprint and drugscreen. Im waiting to get my fingerprint result back which I just mailed it in early this week.
All I need to do is get my medical checkup and hepatitis b vaccination.
CPR is today. Yay!!!! Almost done.

Congratulation to you and Anne for getting into the programs! I have been thinking more and more about it and I think that going the LPN route for some people (including me) is better. although it is still competitive the requirements are lower than those of other programs for the RN. Also, you can still apply for RN programs and yet at the same time apply for LPN's. It opens up more options and allows you the chance to choose which best suits you. Good luck to you both and I hope I'll have some good news soon too!
