Accepted to Georgia Baptist Fall2007

Published

I just got accepted to the nursing program at Mercer. I am really excited and anxious as well. I would love to talk to anyone who will be going there in the fall of 2007.

Dear One03Grad,

I was reading your posts and wanted to thank you for insight. Do you have any other suggestions for first year students? How can we prepare? Can you give us some advice as to what are first year will be like? Difficluty levels, clinical setting etc? any info would be great.

I guess my biggest piece of advice is to form a study group ASAP. It may not be ideal for some, but it def. helps to stay on point. Also, i would speak to my advisor at the first sign of struggling with any courses. I dont know if you can "prepare" for anything right now. If you have had previous healthcare experience then it may be an easier transition for you. You can look on Mercer's Atlanta bookstore and see what books are going to be used for ur classes. The first semester is mainly just learning about skills and the history of nursing. I think we had to write a paper on a famous nursing philosopher (sp.). Clinicals were fun but LOOOOONG! A lot of bed baths, turning and ambulating. The first semester you give NO MEDS! You just work as like a CNA/PCT and getting a feel for the hospital settng. The second semester is tougher because you start the med-surg rotation as well as learning meds, various skills, and learn how to "test" like a nurse. Eventually it gets easier as you progress. I am having a brain freeze right now so PM me if you have anythin else.

Specializes in Rehab, Geriatrics & School Nurse.

Can anyone tell me who has the shortest waiting list for RN?

Hello Everyone!! I'm also starting in the fall at Ga Baptist!!! Congratulations to everybody!!! When is everyone attending orientation?

How did you go about applying to ga baptist college. I am interested in this school and willing to relocate from nc. I planned on moving to ga after obtaining a associates degree here, but would rather be in ga so I don't have to go through the trouble of having my license transferred

Well all I had to do was take the NET test. Then I filled out an application which included an essay. I sent a transcript from Ga State ( where I took my pre reqs) and sent in the $50 application fee. Three weeks later I recieved my letter. I will start school on Monday and I have heard nothing but great things about the program at Ga Baptist. Good Luck!!!
