Accepted FNP student at UCLA?

Published

Hello!

I got into UCLA Graduate School of Nursing for Family Nurse Practitioner! Anyone else out there also going to UCLA this upcoming Fall? Please message me! :)

I'm from New Jersey and would like to meet some people in the area before I head off to Sunny California :)

Congratulations! I'm trying to get into the MEPN. How long did it take for them to notify you after you turned in your application? Hopefully I'll be starting a thread like this in a couple of months.

It felt like a loooong time. I handed in my application on Dec. 15 and was not notified until Feb. 22nd. The wait was torture! Good luck!!! Hope to see you at UCLA!!!

My wife and I recently visited UCLA. We loved everything about that place...the people, the weather, and the cheap FOOD! I really do hope that I get in. This torture phase is killing me!!!! Have you found housing already? If yes, how long did it take you to get one?

Hello, lilboboxox,

I just wanted to congratulate you on your up-and-coming career as an FNP. :balloons:

hello! :)

thanks for the congrats siri. i am very excited yet nervous at the same time. :)

i visited UCLA last summer and was really impressed by the campus. as for housing, i haven't found housing yet. since i'm completely new to the area, i thought maybe it's better for me to stay on campus during the first year. UCLA has a housing website that you can check out. housing for married couples are also available. :)

good luck! i hope to see you at ucla! :)

I cannot be for certain but I think that the FNP programs on the east coast may be less competitive in the years to come. I've heard from a couple schools and hospitals in San Diego area that California is going more for CNS than FNP. That is one statement I've heard in the San Diego area. So with that being said, FNP may be easier to get into in California for a while.

I applied to 3 or 4 California schools. Not UCLA though. I'll keep you posted. If I move there we can hook up study and share information. How was the application process for UCLA?:nurse:

Lilboboxox,

I was also accepted to UCLA'S FNP program for this coming Fall '09!!! I am very excited and quite nervous. I am from the LA area and I have been working at UCLA as a RN for about 8 months. I am planning on keeping my apartment which is about 4 miles away from Westwood (UCLA campus). Westwood is quite expensive so it may be worth it to look at the surrounding areas (unless you wouldn't want to drive to school). Most people in LA use "Westside Rentals" which is a website that has apartment listings. You have to pay $60 for a membership, but it is worth it because the best listings are on the website (as opposed to Craigslist or something else).

Have you taken Physiology again yet? I don't need to because I just graduated from nursing school in May, but I am not that confident that I retained enough info over the past year.... so I am considering auditing it. It would be awesome if you could let me know if they are offering a class for the people who need to repeat it so I could sneak in for a little review...

See you in a few months!

Ummmm...the OP was from 2006. Don't think you'll see him/her there! Congrats on getting into UCLA!

Hi,

I am also interested in applying to UCLA FNP program. I earned a second bachelor in nursing from NYU with a GPA 3.5. What do you think of my chance of getting into UCLA FNP is? I heard it's very competative so I don't know if my GPA is considered good or not for the program. Also, HOW do you like the program? I want to know everything! Thanks :)

I just got accepted to the NP program this Fall! I'm so ecstatic! Still, I wonder where can I find a room to rent that's cheap and clean without those annoying roommates. I'm from Riverside, btw. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!
