I just got accepted at ccbc catonsville's RN program for spring 2007 and was wandering if anybody also got accepted by the same school.

I did work full time while in nursing school, but that was because I had too for financial reasons. I worked night shift at a local hospital and it was nice because I actually learned so much from my job it helped me with school. They were 12 hour shifts so it was only 3 nights a week, but with not being able to work the night before clinical I had to work everynight before class. So, I was also know to fall asleep in class sometimes (ok, just about every day) I wasn't one of those people that has to get straight A's but I managed to get through with a 3.0, not too bad. So it can be done, though I recomend part time if possible :) You have to think about the rest of your life too - there were a lot of older people in my class taking care of a spouse, children and aging parents.

Only you know what is right for you!

I loved what you've said about not getting straight A's and you have to think about the rest of your life because I have 3 children and a Husband to think about also.

I'll chime in on the Essex/Catonsville debate. When I was applying for the program, my advisor (who was based on the Catonsville Campus but floats to Essex as well) told me my odds were better at getting in at Catonsville. I ended up applying/getting accepted at Essex; but my understanding is that Catonsville was the easier campus to get into?? But the actual program is the same.

I hate to ask this but I'm taking BIO 110 at CCBC Catonsville in fall and someone told me ABSOLUTELY do not take Karen Dalton's class for this or A&P I or II. Anyone had first-hand experience or heard anything? I am a good student, but I don't need a hassle...I just want to get through these classes and apply to the RN program.

I had Mrs. Dalton back when I took 110. She's just plain miserable. I got an A in her class...but she was the nastiest, moodiest instructor I have EVER had. Only good thing I can say about her is that she made me a better studier.

She doesn't teach either of the A+P's though

I had Dalton and she is a really good teacher. She lacks personality and she is tough and very anal, but you learn ALOT from her. I say if you can deal with the fact that she is there to teach and not be your friend, you will do just fine. I'll tell you who not to take, Mr. Hargrove. He's not a good teacher and he absolutely can not stay on topic what so ever. You might as well take an online class fooling with him.

My experience with Dalton was UNBEARABLE! I didn't have her as a teacher, as she "blocked" me from going into A&P1 at CCBC. She claimed I didn't have the proper Biology, and that I would "Fail miserably." How supportive. Anyhow, I am now accepted at CCBC and Harford CC programs, received A's in both A&P's, and scored in the 95th% for the HAPS exam (a national cummulative A&P exam created by the Human anatony & physiology society.) Out of over 10,000 test takers only 200 of us nationwide received A's. Can't wait to email Dalton about it.

Good for you, I'd send her a hard copy! FWIW I've had good luck with a couple of CCBC department heads that let me slide into Stats and A&P2, I also got As in both classes.

I was accepted into the Fall class of CCBC Cationsville too.
