Has anyone recieved one???? Ive applied to U of P and a few others but the wait is killing me!!!!! I recieved a letter RE: providence scholarship Interview and i was lucky to recieve one!! but i havent heard from U of P yet
so just wondering about others, let me know and GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Just got my official letter today--accepted into the spring 2011 cohort as well! When I asked UP a few months ago about how they separate out the cohorts, they told me that the vast majority of transfers are placed in the spring cohort, and that they accept a few transfers into the fall cohort based on the number of prereqs completed (but not necessarily the time at which they would all be completed). So, GVTA, my guess would be that you had more prereqs completed when you applied than Sakara or I did. Although maybe that's just true generally and you lucked out, haha.
I emailed U of P and asked where I was on the waitlist...... #68 HA! Looks like that school's out. Wow. How many people do they have on their waitlist for heaven's sake?! It seems absurd to have that many people on a waitlist!
I bet you have a better chance than you think. The fact that they have a wait list of 300 people leads me to believe that they have a lot that end up declining once the offer has been extended. UP has 80 spots available and most people apply to various programs and often have several choices. You never know what program they are going to choose or whether they will be able to work it out financially, etc.
So I am new to this site and hopefully nobody minds that I'm just jumping into this discussion now. I also am on the waitlist at UP. I'm #32 and I've been distraught over it. taz 5869 why are you under the impression that there's a good chance they will take many from the waitlist? I called UP and asked them how many on the waitlist got admitted last year or what's the average been in the past years and she couldn't answer me. I don't know what to think. I'm hoping you heard something from the school that made you have such a positive outlook? Do you have a number from them? I know my friend was waitlisted last year at #54 and she didn't get in...
I've been on the waitlist for them before too, and didn't get in (obviously). I would imagine that with how many applicants there are, not very many are going to be willing to give up their spot unless they've applied elsewhere and gotten in. Thankfully I've got 5 more chances to get in somewhere!
Heh... well, I didn't have anything from the school to go off. I just figured if they have 300 people on their wait list they must have a history of having a lot of people that didn't take it. *shrugs* Apparently, I was wrong. I don't know why they'd have a wait list that large if they didn't have very many spots open up in the past.
UP is the most expensive school in the area, and I just figured that a substantial number of students that get in to UP and also get in elsewhere, because they're pretty much the "cream of the crop" so to speak.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm still hoping that I'll have better luck with OHSU or Linfield.
I applied to OHSU's accelerated BSN and PCC's program. OHSU is my first choice... I know we're not supposed to find out until late March/early April, but I am pulling my hair out waiting!
I also applied to the Accelerated Bachelor's with OHSU, and it is also driving me crazy!!!
I've gathered that if they call you, you're in and if they send you a letter you're not in- though that might not be true in every situation. At least nobody has said they were accepted into the program yet, so that doesn't just mean that we are sitting around waiting for our rejection letters!
I wish there was something else I could do besides sit around waiting to find out if I'm accepted... I feel so useless!!!
