Hi
I am an internationally educated nurse in Ontario, Canada. My nursing assessment process has been done by NNAS for college of nurses ontario. I passed NCLEX-RN and i am a Registered Nurse in Ontario, Canada. Now i want to move to New York City as i got my green card few months back.
I am wondering whether NYSED will accept my NCLEX-RN score or not? Do i need to do my educational assessment from CGFNS again? NNAS is a CGFNS's Canadian version.
I am in a great confusion now. Seeking some useful information.
Thank you.

NNAS evaluates your credentials to Canadian standards. You need to have a CVS completed by CGFNS (approx 6 months) and then apply to the NY BoN for a nursing license by examination as an IEN. Only the NY BoN can say if the NCLEX you passed for CNO will be accepted in NY You will need to complete specific classes as outlined on the BoN website. Even if you had a NJ license as an IEN you would still need a CVS from CGFNS to apply to NY.
You are aware that NYC is a very tight market with dozens if not hundreds applying for single nursing jobs posted, right? There is not a shortage of inexperienced nurses. There is more of a demand for experienced (5-10 y) specialty trained nurses (OR, NICU, ICU, etc)

NNAS is for Canada
CGFNS is for the USA
NY regardless on whether applying as a new applicant or endorsing from another state requires everyone that trained outside the US to go through CVS. As mentioned above this process can take up to 6 months as CGFNS do all the requesting of documents and wait for them to be returned.
