Hi everyone!

It seems like quite a few of us are starting, or are in, accelerated programs. I'd like to know if any of us are going into the same programs. Could you share what school you attend?

For myself, I will start at Curry in MA next month...

I applied to a combined BSN/MSN program at the University of Rochester, in Rochester, NY. The accelerated BSN portion of the program will take 15 months beginning in May 2004.

I just received my acceptance letter and will begin the program in May. I will be attending Mount Saint Mary's accelerated program in Brentwood, CA . Wish me luck.

Specializes in critical care; community health; psych.

Just curious. How does an accelerated program work?

Good luck to all of you who are starting your programs in 2004.

Hi. Yes, I will be at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. The program is 62 credits and usually takes a year and a half.

hello everyone! i'm new to this forum and found it surfing google.com

ironically enough. i started college in 1996 (while working as a nurse assistant full time) with the goal of getting my bachelor's in nursing. by my junior year i think i became jaded (had been working full time since 1992) and changed my major to computer information systems (graduated in may 2001). well guess what....i think i left my heart in nursing.

;) i'm heading to a public university in my area (Wayne State University) that has an accelerated BSN program that lasts 16 months. since already have my bachelor's and my sciences are pretty aged, worst case scenario is that i have to repeat some of my science course and have to wait to fall 2005 to get in. it will be well worth it though... :kiss

OMG lralex, that is the EXACT scenerio I am facing. Including the dates (almost). I am also a surgical tech who was working full time and was trying to get into a nursing program. I got so frustrated with schools giving me the run-around with prereqs and what-not, that I changed careers and got my 1st bachelors in Computer Networking. After a year as a network admin for Raytheon, I knew that I had to follow my heart and head back into nursing.

I just received my acceptance letter last week and I will be starting the program in May. At my school the program is done in one year.

You can get some information about accelerated BSN programs at the following link:

For the most part, accelerated BSN programs are for people who already have a bachelor degree in a different field. They are vary as to duration and requirements. Some if not most, require that you have some form of medical background. Keep in mind that most are very rigorous and some even require that you not work during the course of the program because basically you are attemping to do in one year what most BSN programs do in three.

Hope that helps.

Best of luck to everyone trying to better themselves.

Hello, I am new to this board. I will be starting the F.A.C.T. BSN/MSN program at Thomas Jefferson University. The program for the BSN is from June 04-June 05, full time, 3 days in rotations and two days in class. After the first year, you are awarded the BSN and then pursue the MSN on a part- or full-time basis.

A Bachelor's degree in another field is required, as well as 4 to 12 credits in chem, bio, physics, math. GRE scores are required if your GPA is below 3.1.

Sorry if this info is a repeat!

you will have to let me know what you think of TJU. I'm moving to Philly and have been checking out several RN-BSN and MSN programs. Still haven't set any one school in stone yet and I have some time to choose.

Iralex-

I applied to Wayne for 2004 too! Hope to see you there :)

I will begin ACE (accelerated nursing program) in Sept. 2004. The program is almost 12 months in length. Currently working on financial aid because due to economic, my income has decreased more than 60% during the last two years.

I am praying that 2004 - 2005 will turn my current career status around. Just think, I never thought that information technology career would put me in this situation.

I'm starting the accelerated BSN/MSN program at Pace University in New York this January. I CAN'T WAIT!! Yee haa!

Happy holidays everybody.
