Hi, guys! I'm a newbie to this site, and I wanted to get your input on Accelerated BSN programs in Texas. I live in the DFW area, and I hold a Finance degree from Texas A&M. I've recently decided to try my hand at nursing school, and I need three prereqs to get into RN school--A&P I, II, and Micro. (I start my A&P I on Tuesday!) I was plunking around on the site and saw that some nurses were talking about the fact that they had done an accelerated BSN 12-month program geared toward people with non-nursing degrees. Does anyone know if there are any nursing schools in the area that offer such a program? I checked UTA, and they don't seem to have it.
I swear that I posted this somewhere else but I don't remember where. Anyhoo, here is a link to TAMU-CC's online program. It isn't accelerated but I don't know that there'd be much of a difference if you had your pre-reqs already.

Thats the info for the accelerated program
These are public universities
Also - in all cases - online course are recognized IF you are alreay an RN. If you aren;'t an RN, you have to do it the old fashioned way if you want to be assured of global recognition.
Most of the RN to BSN programs are online, if not in total then at least in part.
Also - the accelerated programs are for people with BS degrees in a nother field. They are not online - they are face to face.
Texas Tech's program is online and it IS for people with a bachelors degree in another field. They have this program in addition to the RN to BSN program you speak of.

never mind wrong person....

well, it's not like i am writing a check for tuition each semester
. that is what student loans are for. it can be done.
i did not look at the numbers, but other people in our class (who were accepted at twu and turned it down) compared the numbers and said that in the end the cost is about the same. it is just a matter of getting it done in 12-15 months or dragging it out for 2 - 2.5 years. again, i did not calculate it because i only applied to tcu for the accelerated program. 11 months and 4 days to go. .......... 'git er done'
