Accelerated BSN programs that do NOT require letters of reference?

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any accelerated second degree BSN programs that don't require letters of reference?

I'm aware that most do, but if there are any that don't I'd like to look at them and possibly get a head start on applying as I'm going to be waiting a few weeks for my professors to get their letters done.

I know that UNC Chapel Hill doesn't require or accept letters, but I think they might be a little too competitive as they're one of the topped ranked schools :)

The following accelerated BSN programs do not require letters of recommendation - Villanova BSNExpress (interview), University of Maine, Drexel (ACE program - no personal statement either!). Drexel may be the least competitive - good chance of admittance if your undergrad GPA is 3.0 or greater, or if your GPA for your last 60 credits is 3.0 or greater.

Thanks, I'll definitely check out Colorado and Arizona. In the meantime, I'm still trying to find more school that don't require letters of recommendation..it just takes alot of time though!

Don't bother with the University of Arizona program. I am currently in it, and can tell you that it is less than stellar. Disorganized curriculum, poor instructor quality, standardized testing that often does not reflect what is taught in the classroom, and bad student morale. We all just want to take the NCLEX and get to work. There is no love lost with this program....because there is no love at all. Strange, because nursing is supposed to be a compassionate profession. But just like nurses eat their young, nursing instructors try to do the same with silly mind games and minimal teaching effort while maintaining high performance expectations. And lest we forget: the silly, time consuming busy work assignments....

Oakland University in Rochester, MI!!! You have to have at least a 3.0 overall (no lower then a 2.5 in core pre-reqs), write a goal statement and have an interview though. This is the route I'm going because well, I live near by and it's only a year long program as opposed to some of the other ones close to me I looked at that were 15-18 months...

Villanova discontinued their accelerated program I thought?

Villanova has NOT discontinued their accelerated program.

A friend was just accepted and deposited to the 14 month accelerated program at Villanova (BSN Express) that starts May 2010. Villanova also offers an "alternative sequence" second bachelor's option that takes 2 years. My friend chose the 14 month program over several others because of the tremendous resources available to students- state of the art stim lab, etc and reputation of the program in the nursing community.

I was looking at the pre-reqs for Oakland and have never been more confused in my life! All of the classes have different credit hours like 5 for statistics/psych..really unusual. Do you have a list of the equivalencies by chance??
