Accelerated BSN program NYU Fall 2011

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi hopeful Fall 2011 NYU students!

I recently submitted my application for the accelerated BNS program. I saw that other semesters had discussions and I thought it would be nice to start one for us, just to help each other out through the application process.

I looked at past ones when I was filling out my application and found them to be helpful, so hopefully it will be for us.

Love to see who all is applying and how it's going:)

So excited, I just got accepted at NYU- still waiting to hear from U of Rochester... any opinions on one vs. the other? I'm not able to find the total expenses on NYU site. Has anyone found the total expenses, aside from housing? Books, lab fees, supplies, uniforms and anything else that may be additional? Housing is another story...

For those still anxiously waiting to hear, I went to the info session yesterday; there were several people who were accepted but have not yet committed. Good luck!

Hey everyone, congrats to all who were accepted. I am applying for spring 2012 semester, I don't have a bachelors so Ill be a traditional transfer. I'm so excited, I am going to apply early August. I live in Florida I would love to live in NYC, new environment , new experiences. Any suggestions for students going through the application process?

I talked with someone from the financial aid office, but only to ask a specific question about work study. They were very helpful with that.

can you elaborate Scott on what you asked/what they said regarding Work Study? I'm considering doing work study as well and kind of confused as to how it works...

I asked just that - how the work study would actually happen. What they told me is that the student is responsible for finding a work study job through the on-campus Wasserman Center for Career Development. The money earned is paid directly to you, but I believe the federal government funds the salary.

Did anyone else get waitlisted??? I got waitlisted today.... Accelerated program

Scott-

So is it like job hunting basically? And also, do we get paid more because of our Bachelor degrees/ experiences?

I didn't specifically ask about pay but I don't get the idea that the pay is different because you already have a bachelor's. I think the jobs are what they are and they pay the same regardless.

The pay is going to be just regular undergraduate pay for on campus jobs. Expect $10/hour for most jobs like working in the library, gym, etc. If you have specific skills like web development and get a job in a particular department, you could get $15/hour.

Is there a specific amount of hours maximum you are allowed to work while there?

It depends on how much money you qualify for from the federal government, if the department or office that hires you has extra funding, shifts, etc. Most jobs are about 15-20 hours/week.

How many students does NYU accept in the nursing program?

I think it's 175
