accelerated bsn program at njcu in jersey city, nj

Does anybody attend the Accelerated BSN program in NJCU? If so what is the cost of the program? How competative is it to get in? Will they accept you if your overall GPA is lower than a 3.0 but you have a very high GPA in your prerequisites? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

I understand the frustration of those who were not accepted/waitlisted. Here is my two sense in this.... in regards to the extended deadline how is this unfair? I submitted everything back in December and when I asked about the deadline being extended I was told by NJCU that it was because they wanted to make sure they got anyone and everyone who wanted to apply and took thier HESI...... isn't this what eevrything is about giving everyone a fair chance? I know someone who applied a week before the deadline and I view her the same as I view myself... we both applied and took the exam and for whatever reason we were both accepted. Everyone got a fair chance when thier application was reviewed........ I know that pre-req grades, test scores and reccomendations counted ALOT... more than undergrad gpa and perhaps thats what did it for most people that were unfortunately not accepted. I can't speak for the administration and having known someone who went to the school last year I know it can be confusing and chaotic because staff can be absent minded sometimes, but in the end, its 1 year and we can all do it to finish and get on with our lives.....

To those that made it congrats and I'll see you in the fall (I can't make orientation bc I'll be out of the country) and those still waiting good luck. What shall happen will happen

I forgot to add that although I don't think giving an extension was unfair bc no one's file was reviewed before the deadline, I do agree that people should be able to take thier HESI only once....

Received my letter monday. basically didn't get into the program this year.. It's a bit confusing as to what they're looking for as my friend got in with lower scores? Guess I'm looking into other programs now.. or wait for next year.. anyone know of any schools with deadlines that haven't passed ?

1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.

2. while this site is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.

3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

For those that did not get accepted. Try not to get discouraged, and stay determined. Here's an old proverb that is fitting:

"There are many paths to the top of the mountain, but the view is always the same".

In regards to the comment that the application deadline extension was unfair, I am not sure if that is a valid criticism. It would be unfair if they did not inform everyone and only some applicants were made aware of that extension. That didn't happen though. Their website actually stated that the deadline dates were subject to change. So they made it aware to everyone that it was a possibility that the date could change. It's really in the best interest of the applicant to try to apply early, and it would be unwise for someone to wait until the last minute hoping that the deadline would be pushed back. Everyone had that option though.

I do agree with the criticism about retaking the Hesi. I see how that could be unfair for those that were not aware that they could retake the test. Then again, everyone had the ability to ask the school if a retake was possible.

Don't get me wrong, I have no issues with criticizing the school. I just think you may not have a strong case in proving that they were unfair if those are your only two arguments. I actually feel that they were unorganized and unclear when notifying people that they were accepted or not. There is no logical reason that they should have held back the decision letters until people filled out their waiver forms. The only reasonable explanation for that is that the response to the letter potentially impacted their decision. If that is not the case, they have to understand why someone would think that. They actually even made it seem like it was our mistake for not submitting this form, and we potentially could have put our application at risk if we didn't reply in time. I think this is wrong, especially since they never gave us that form in the first place. I think this caused unnecessary confusion. People that got the waiver email may have thought they definitely got in only to be disappointed when they finally received the letter. People that never received the waiver email may have thought they did not get in. People that may have needed the waiver may have declined it because they didn't want to jeopardize their decision. I think all of that could have been avoided.

Hopefully someone from admissions does read this and hopefully they correct how they notify people for the sake of the future applicants' peace of mind.

sucks because I really wanted to do this program but I got accepted into a master of science in public health so I will probably end up doing that...

I was also told tha I could be contacted as late as august if there is a seat available
