accelerated bsn program at njcu in jersey city, nj

Published

Does anybody attend the Accelerated BSN program in NJCU? If so what is the cost of the program? How competative is it to get in? Will they accept you if your overall GPA is lower than a 3.0 but you have a very high GPA in your prerequisites? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

Aww thank you so much guys it really means Amit I am crossing my fingers too for this I really want this... My undergrad was only a 2.80 but my prerequisites was a 3.5 ... Don't understand .. Samantha didn't respond to me yet but I am seriously praying someone declines the offer and I get accepted

I meant to write it really means a lot

Also I do nit have a waiver my parents r paying for everything. I'm kinda upset that I'm clearly able to afford it yet I'm on a waitng list

Hi everyone, congrats to those of you who were accepted! YAY :ancong!:

Kris EMT, I'm sorry you were waitlisted. You do still have a chance, though. There was one, maybe two, people in my class that were on the waitlist and someone didn't accept so they got in...Hopefully that happens for you. Definitely keep calling/emailing Samantha to see what happened. How far do you life from the school? Maybe you could take a trip up there and speak with her in person??

Those who make the decisions for the program told me that they definitely look at the student as a whole. They want to make sure they have the best students graduate (and pass the NCLEX on the 1st try) because that makes the school look better. Your letters of recommendation and previous jobs, etc have an impact as well as your GPA and HESI score.

I'm giving a virtual hug to those of you who were not accepted. :sniff:

How much is the deposit?

sundrop,

sorry to change the subject on you, but did you get your letter or are you still waiting for it also? I still have not received anything. I'm not sure if I'm just being impatient or if my mailman is messing with me.

Hey smiley_b,

I haven't received my letter yet. I am scared..lol

Thanks for the reply sundrop. I try not to worry too much. The way I see it is, if I don't get in there's always other ways to getting a BSN. Maybe they are not as cheap or convenient as NJCU, but they exist. To tell you the truth I am more scared about the availability of nursing jobs after I get a BSN and pass the NCLEX. I hear that the idea of Nursing being recession proof is no longer the case, especially in New Jersey. I've read that new graduates are having troubles getting jobs because of the economy. But, I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

The thing that stinks for me is that after I had submitted my application I have moved to a new town about 45 minutes away. While I'm pretty sure I put my new address on the application, I keep on second guessing myself and think that I used my old address. Needless to say, I drove back to my old place 3 times this week to double check. Sigh...

Smileyb I also heard that same thing in regard to new grads having a hard time finding jobs. My friend recently graduated from school with an associate in nursing and she can't find a job. I figure when the economy picks up it will improve. Plus my friend does not have any work experience so I'm figuring this could also be another reason. I read in a forum somewhere that the mailing system is slow at NJCU or something like that. It is really taking forever. Hopefully we all hear something by today.

I got my acceptance letter yesterday. I couldn't even open the envelope for 10 minutes I was so nervous. I wish everyone the best of luck....this application process has been nerve wracking to say the least!

I was waitlisted..I am so disappointed.

Hello Sundrop,

I was also waitlisted, I thought I meet all the qualifications I scored a 90 on the Hesi and have a 3.8 in pre-requisites, and a 2.99 undergrad gpa. Not really sure what they were looking for, but I wish you luck. Have you applied to any other schools?
