Accelerated BSN MCPHS- Worcester Spring 2015

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Just wondering if anyone out there is applying to the accelerated bachelor in nursing program at MCPHS Worcester for spring 2015. I was just on campus for an information session and will be sending out my application this week.

Are there any current students out there that can explain what the program is like? Class schedule, clinicals, etc. Would you recommend this program?

I still havent received my financial aid packet yet. I emailed and spoke with ********** and he said I should be receiving them yesterday but I still haven't. Did you guys end up using private loans to aid with the remaining balance of the tuition? How are you guys supporting yourself while in this program?

Hey guys!! Who's going to the scrub fitting this Wednesday, November 19th?

Hey Everyone! I just got accepted to the 2015 Fall program!

I've been following this thread for a while and wanted to see how everyone is liking the program!

This is my first acceptance letter and I am waiting to hear news on a couple other schools (my top choices) before I put down a deposit for MCPHS.

Would you guys be willing to lay down some pros and cons of the program? How well they are preparing you for the NCLEX? Job outlook for once you graduate? Do you like the program, the staff, the facilities?

@spaceshuttleboy- I've seen your comments on a lot of the nursing threads and was wondering if you would share why you eventually chose this school over the others...? (I tried to PM but haven't been an active member for long enough yet)

Any info would help!

I am also interested in knowing those information because before I accept the offer, I want to know how this program will benefit me in the future. I hope they have a high NCLEX passing rate and great partnership with hospital so that the job searching will be easy.

For those who are currently attending the program or have graduated, how did/do you like MCPHS. What's the experience like? How are the classes and clinical rotation? Is the environment in Worcester nice and how are the people? It would be greatly appreciate if you could share your insights. Thanks! :D

Here to read. Applying for Spring 2016.

For those of you who previously applied....did you apply through NursingCAS or through MCPHS' application? When I contacted an admission advisor, she said it didn't matter which one. However, there are several extra questions on the MCPHS app that aren't on the NursingCAS app. Just looking for some input!

Personally, I chose filling out MCP's own application because it took less things to fill out compared to NursingCAS. In addition, it takes more time for the application to be reviewed if one applies through NursingCAS because of the verification process, which takes about 2 weeks at least and then shipped over to MCP admission office. Conversely, MCP's own application take about 3 weeks for me, at least, to be reviewed and with a decision. Overall, it's up to you; oh btw, NursingCAS has a $30 fee, while MCP's own application does not. Also, last thing, it's not harding getting accepted into MCP's BSN program. Good luck!

Directly with MCPHS! :-)

I am currently applying for the Spring 2016 semester for the ABSN. I live in Texas. Don't know much about the program. If anyone can shed some light on it, that would be great. Also what is the school's expectation of an essay? Also, any one have the rate of passing for 2014 or 2015 of the NCLEX?

Hey Tech-RN, there's a lot of info above (and I posted links to where I'd posted even more :) ) about the program in general. Essentially, the model is front-loading: 1st semester is all didactic and lab; then a hardcore assessment course before you start clinicals. Each clinical rotation is usually a 7/8 week class.. the first 2-ish weeks of frontloading (full 5 days of classes), and then 5-ish of clinical (almost full time with one class day a week).

The rotations run like this:

- 1 - med/surg (basic)

- 2 - maternity/ob; pedi

- 3 - psych/MH

- 4 - community (clinic/school/VNA etc)

- 5 - med/surg (advanced/preceptorship)

Not sure what you mean by "expectation of essay" but there are definitely written assignments, research assignments and papers that need to be done at the "professional writing" level. We have faculty who are VERY picky about writing style, and overall they do have high expectations.

NCLEX pass rates for Manchester campus were 92% in 2014, and 87% in Worcester. It's still 2015, so those stats aren't available yet!
