Hi all, so this is my first post.. I have my BSc and MSc degrees but despite all those courses, I need BIOL 235 via Athabasca to get those 6 cr A&P for an accelerated BScN-->MScN and hopefully on to become a nurse practitioner (in pediatrics:woot:)
So, is anyone else currently enrolled in this course? There is such little (read: zero) communication between students in the class or students & "tutors", I thought it'd be nice to have a support/discussion thread somewhere... ((Apologies if there is already a topic for this, I only found previous years in my search.))
I'm freaking out because I need to finish everything by ~May to be able to actually go to any of the schools if I'm accepted to them... :/ It's a lot of material to teach myself very very quickly while still doing well.:Skull:
Can we commiserate, support and encourage each other please and thanks?
*Bump* Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Also in the same boat, but taking microbiology as well as A&P because I took some pretty useless courses in my BSc and am now attempting to get into a post-degree option. I'm about a third of the way through A&P now.
Hi rachelps and cam22!
I'm having a harder time with BIOL 235 than I thought I would, especially given my background.. Would love to be able to have "study buddies" (er, online) to be accountable to, ask Qs/discuss with... I finished reading Chapter 18 (endocrine) but I still have to complete Assignment 1 and do everything for Assignment 2 (I work in weird ways like that... ..)

Hi there is there any one that can help with bio 235 through AU?? I am starting my midterm next week and I'm nervous! Please contact for study buddy or answer any questions regarding midterm 1/2/3?? Thanks so much!=
hi are you still completing bio 235? How did you find the midterm1? Any hints or helpful tips? Thanks!
Hi, my tips are to study a lot... this course requires putting in a lot of time. Do as many multiple choice practice questions as you can, finding from other physiology sources online, etc. Screenshot the ones from quizzes to go over again before midterms or final.

Hi Stephnurse2727
Are you still taking BIO 235?! I want to apply to an accelerated nursing program so I need to take it! I started the course in September, but since I'm still enrolled as a full time student at my current institution I'm just finishing up the last two chapters for the first portion of the course, and am going to book my 1st midterm for probably sometime in January. It's so rich in content, its taking me forever! How did the midterm go?! Any tips? The content is VERY in depth, but I've been making really detailed notes which is very time consuming, so I'm more than willing to exchange notes if you're interested! Have you done the quizzes yet? There is so little communication between students and tutors it would be nice to get through this tedious course with some haha! Hope to hear from you soon!! :)
Hi megankyla !
I know you posted this thread a while ago, but I searched "BIO 235" in the keywords section and your post came up! How did BIO 235 go? I want to apply to an accelerated nursing program and BIO 235 is required. I'm very anxious about it. I started in September, but because I'm still a full time student, it's really taking a while for me to complete. I'm now just finishing the last two chapters of the first portion of the course and planning to take my 1st midterm sometime in January. Were you able to keep up? How were the midterms/exams/quizzes? Do the quizzes require a lot of study time? Or could I just google the answers? I'm so nervous I'm not going to complete the course on time, and there is so little communication between students and tutors that it's even harder not having others to ask questions and share ideas. Do you have any tips for me? Any notes or resources that really helped? Thanks so much! Hope to hear from you soon!

I completed the BIO 235 program this summer. It is a very content-heavy course and my suggestion would be to adhere strictly to the Study Guide, as the midterms and finals do not go beyond the required material. This is especially important for the second half of the course where the memorization ramps up.
For the midterms and finals, know the diagrams in the textbook very well. Often times you'll see the exact same diagram on the exam. Some of the questions on the quiz ask for specific details (details I often glance over when studying), so be familiar with where things are in the textbook. They designed the quizzes to be "open book" so some questions require a bit of digging around.
I agree that the communication is lacking in this course. They basically said "read this book, take these tests. That'll be $1500." However, do try hard for the assignments, as the person who marked mine expected extensive detail. For the first assignment I wrote a paragraph for each short answer question, which landed me a grade in the mid-80s. For the second assignment I decided to go all out and include as much detail as I could... a couple of my answers were in fact 500+ word essays. That landed me a score in the mid-90s.
Feel free to ask if you have further questions. Best of luck!
Hi NBolas,
Thanks so much for your response! It really helped! I'll definitely come to your if I have any other questions! Thanks a lot!
