Hi there!

I will be applying to UMass Amherst for the Aug 2018 entering class. I wanted to start a thread for any prospective applicants.

Feel free to discuss anything! Hopefully we can all help each other through the next couple of months while we complete apps and await decisions.

They send out notice to waitlisted students.

I went through the posts from 2015, 2016, and 2017 and it seems the first batch of accepted students received (physical) mailed notice on Feb 28 and then others received an email on March 1 with the mailed letter following shortly after.

I think they accepted 88 students last year so I assume it'd be around the same number this year.

Don't hold me to this, but I applied last year and they sent the accepted students an email that they got in, and then the other people had to wait until middle of March to get a mailed letter for the waitlist or a rejection. I hope it's different this year and that they just email everyone on March first.

Hey Fellow Applicants,

I've decided to create an account to join the chat! On the eve of our possible acceptance confirmations, I imagine we are all feeling similar excitement and anxiety! At first I thought I'd share my GPA and background but now am wondering if the information will even be useful to anyone at this point.

Reading through these threads, I too am hoping for a quick decision via email tomorrow. If I haven't been accepted by March 1, I would almost rather receive a notification of rejection than wait for a letter in the mail that I've been waitlisted, then wait even longer to receive a final decision.. Just let me know Umass so I can move on with my life!

No but in all seriousness I would very much like to be accepted into the 2018 cohort and begin this next chapter with all of you who make it. Hopefully tomorrow we will be making a Facebook group to chat about our plans for August.

I just had to say, allnurses.com doesn't give the option to make your little avatar picture be a black person?? Come on!

I totally agree with you and love your sense of humor. I hope we all get to be classmates in the near future! Good luck to everyone.

@ Rondo - I know, right? I'm brown and this icon is not working out at all hahaha.

I agree with you re: GPA/stats. I imagine that will be more useful when decisions are out and for anyone who was waitlisted/denied admission who wants a better understanding of an admitted student's profile.

I just called the admissions office and the person I spoke to said all decisions: accepted/denied/waitlisted will go out tomorrow.
