ABSN UMass Amherst 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

So, I would really like to get into UMass Amherst for there 2015-2016 cycle, so I will be sending in my application soon for there February 2015 deadline.

I'm just wondering if I even have a chance since my Bachelors in Biology overall GPA is a 2.99, then I took a summer course (Microbiology) at a community college and received an A. Hopefully that'll boost my GPA up for my degree?

I also have over 2,500 hours as a Certified Nursing Assistant, and I've studied abroad in England/Ireland for a Biology course.

This is my number one school that I would like to get into too, I was just wondering other peoples statistics on their GPA average, GPA for their pre-reqs, and if anyone has been or is in the program can tell me about it?

Thanks :)

I just received a second email about signing up for an interview... Did anyone else?

Nope but I contacted the woman who sent the email for interviews and as long as you click save your interview is good to go.

wow sounds like everyone received the interview appointment already? i didn't ..:(( i received two emails said mine was incomplete.. one of the schools never send the transcript.. i immediately called that school and asked them to take care of it.. but it was too late and hope they will reconsider my application.. :(

Hello all,

I set my interview up for march 2nd. I'm trying to figure out my chances of getting in. Someone said everyone gets an interview, is that true or is it just the top 100 people?? Because everyone who received an interview invite have a pretty good chance if there's 72 spots to fill. I'm 23 and recently got my bachelors in biology with a minor in chemistry. My overall GPA was a 3.18 but my pre-reqs GPA is a little higher than a 3.6. I'm currently working as a CNA and have shadowed many nurses in a variety of hospital settings. Is any one able to clarify for me how good my chances are of getting accepted and how many people get interviewed along with how many spots there really are?? Thank you!!

They interview 100 accept72 those invited to interview were based off pre-req Gpa

@Smccccc So even if our time slot on the Doodle sign up isn't grayed out as long as we hit "Save" it should be good?

Also I looked at all three Doodle sign up pages there is a total of 126 signed up for interviews right now.

126...scary...and yes she told me

not to click save again and that it was blocked for me

Ok thanks! Hopefully they send out the confirmations soon so we can all have a little peace and mind! And I know, 126 is more than I thought too. Lots of competition!

Your chances are better than mine! Good luck with your interview, I scheduled mine for the 5th. Does anyone know what kind of questions they will be asking for the interview or what we should expect? I'm doing mine via Fuze.

I got my confirmation for my interview this morning by email. Others? It was the time I had selected-- next Thursday! I'm hoping doing it the first week might mean they make a decision sooner.

I have no idea what they'll ask in the interview but with just 15 minutes it can't be much. My hunch is that they will just want to hear more about why we want to be nurses or attend this program. Maybe tell a story about a time we helped someone or something. Probably they are mostly checking that we can communicate and seem personable. But since not everyone who is interviewed gets in, there must be some sort of screening process.

Just kidding I just recalculated my pre req gpa and it's only a 3.47. Do I have to worry about that? Or do I not have to worry because I already got an interview based on my gpa??? Can this still affect my chance or am I still ok with this GPA??

I don't think there's any way to know how much weight they give to different things. Just do your best on your interview!
