ABSN guys and girls, which pre-reqs did you take your first semester?

Published

Is Chem/Bio/Stats a good start?

A&P 1, Sociology 1, Psy 1, Eng 1

Chem and Physics during summer

A&P 2, lifespan psyc, eng 2, and cpr

was pretty much my first year

I think its better taking one science a semester in order to get those A's :)

Chem and physics during the summer session..yuck

why are you even taking Physics? Not a requirement is it?

Specializes in Endoscopy/MICU/SICU.

Ted,

Yeah. I never took Bio 101. I had to complete A&P 1 and 2 before I could take Micro though.

Really? that's an odd pre-req sequence

everywhere I've looked, you need Micro for A&P, and you need Bio for Micro

so that's why I'm left looking at taking Bio

Yeah, I hear you. I took these at a technical college and specifically went there because they didn't require bio 101 for A&P or micro. I really didn't want to take it. Look around, maybe you'll find somewhere that doesn't require it...

lol, it was a pre req. for nursing. It was one class general chem and physics combined. They say its purpose was to make you "think". Oh well. Physics saved me in the end i love ittt. hate chem ! :p

ITT Tech has Micro and A&P with no pre-reqs, 4 credits each, but do nursing schools really take classes from these schools w/ no problem?

The safest thing to do would be to contact a nursing advisor at the school you want to attend, and ask them. I know that in the program I attended, it depends on the course description and the syllabus as to whether a course from another school was accepted.

Yep, agree with Cruffler. Call the school and ask them. That's why I did too, to make sure they'd transfer with no problems.
