ABSN Duke Fall 2010

Published

Hi All!

I have decided to take the plunge and leave my career as a mental health therapist to gain a BSN in Nursing and hopefully move straight into MSN program. Is anyone else applying to Duke in the Fall??:yeah:

I wonder what it is going to look like on the applyyourself website when they release decisions? Would we get a message in the message center? Or would a neon blue pop-up come out reading CONGRATULATIONS!!!! or, would we have to click somewhere else... Does anyone know?

Sorry Sara, no flashing neon sign! Youll get an email from [email protected] entitled Admissions Decision Available. It will give tell you to login to your applyyourself account, and will include your login info just in case youve forgotten...

Once you login, scroll down to the very bottom of the page, and under Decision Status there will be link that says Your Application Decision is Now Available Online. Click on that link, and theres your letter!

Im excited for everybody, and cant wait for those acceptances to start rolling in! :D

Someone write something on here to help me get thru the day

I've been enjoying https://allnurses.com/nursing-humor-share/nursing-school-bloopers-60124.html as a humorous (and terrifying!) diversion while waiting till Monday...

Thanks Twois, Ill check it out.

Heres another interesting read. Its a blog written a couple of years ago by a student in the University of Rochester ABSN program. It definitely gives you a feel for a day in the life...

Does anyone know if there's a specific length limit or formatting requirement for the scholarship essays? I swore there was, but now I don't see one anywhere.

I'm kinda freaked out that decisions might be entirely made right now, but at the same time, oddly relieved... going to try not to spend all weekend thinking about it now!

I've seen nothing except the little blurbs on theme.

I didn't see anything on the website about it. Which of their scholarships are you guys applying for?

Maybe I'm thinking about application essays for other schools. I wouldn't be surprised at this point if I mixed them up!

Yeah I haven't seen any word limits. I am applying for service to the public but I don't really qualify for any others. I haven't written my essay but I will probably keep it at 2 pages double spaced. That was my word limit for just about every essay I've written for schools/scholarships. I haven't written it yet because... it would be a waste of time if I don't get in. But I'll have to work on it this weekend because they are due by 5pm on Feb. 15.... ahh! which is Monday! :-)

I'm applying for Rise to the Challenge. I haven't done enough service to qualify for that one, and let's face it, this white middle-class female is hardly contributing to diversity in nursing, so that one's out of the question, too. :)

Does anyone else feel like time has literally stopped this week? Monday cannot come soon enough. It's so strange to think that a decision has probably already been made about me and it's just sitting out there on a spreadsheet somewhere.

Puke update: Almost did this morning, thinking about tomorrow.

Be well, all.
