About to apply for MU ohio's nursing program, Could use some advise

Im 23 years old and am about to enroll in my schools nursing program but i wanted to know whether or not im jumping the gun. When i was 18, i got into a little bit of trouble. Due to my lack of judgement, i've got 2 misdemeanors. My question is, will i be able to get a job as an RN with that on my record? What if i get them expunged? And if i cant find a job am i wasting my time trying to pursue my BSN? Thanks for any and all help

Is it possible to become licensed as a nurse if you have a criminal history?

Is it possible to become licensed as a nurse if you have a MIP, DUI, or other related charges?

What happens if you are charged or convicted of a crime after licensure?

Can I go to nursing school and/or be licensed if my record has been sealed or expunged?

Will I be able to go to nursing school with a criminal record?

What can happen if I receive a MIP/DUI/DWI or other charge while still in school?

fbi background checks - authorized reason codes

- fbi background checks must only be conducted for the reasons listed below. bci only has the authority to conduct fbi background checks if authorized state legislation is in place. fbi background checks must not be conducted for individuals applying for positions outside the state of ohio. if the employer is located outside of ohio, but the individual will work in ohio the fbi background check may be conducted.

- the fbi check does not replace legislative requirements for a bci background check.

- where it is indicated that the five-year rule applies, individuals that have not resided in ohio for the five

years previous to application for employment are required to have both a bci and fbi background

check. however, in any of these situations, the employer may elect to do both checks regardless of length

nurses - (rn's, lpn's and dialysis technicians) includes students entering nursing school or applicants to the ohio board of nursing. bci and fbi check required. for board licensing, mail directly to the ohio board of nursing. when hiring nursing staff for hospitals and medical facilities, use the volunteer for children's act.
