I am 28 married with 3 kids and I of course have gained a bit of weight especially around the midsection:rolleyes: and i have seriously considered having a tummy tuck but I am so scared of going under the knife. I was just wandering if anyone has had one and what were your experiences. Should I? What do you think?

An RN friend went to Brazil to have one with AWESOME results and she is sooo happy!! One of her colleagues had gone and that is how she got a referral. She was amazed by the place and procedure and documented the entire prodcedure and the progress! If I can save the money I am definately going to do this too!

I have had four children. At 47 needed a hysterectomy. SO - I asked my OB/GYN if I could have a TAH and a tummy tuck together.
He said yes, it is VERY common for women who have hysterectomies to requiest a tummy tuck to take care of the loose tummy skin and muscle issue.
It was the BEST thing I've ever done for myself. I would not hesitate to do it again.
I too have heard the Brazil doctors do great jobs. I would CERTAINLY make sure you have a referral from someone who KNOWS which doc does the best.
South American (some) women do alot of cosmetic/reconstructive surgery. It is very "normal" to have it done there.

I don't know of anyone who has had one, but I want one so badly! After having 2 children and a c-section, I don't think it will ever be flat again. Regardless of how much weight I lose, the flab is still there, despite vigorous abd exercise.
Does anyone know what the avg US cost for one is (including all associated fees?)
Mine was $5,800.

It varies by type of surgeon, as well as location. Range can be from about $5,000 to about $15,000.
You can also check out some hospitals that have plastic surgery training programs, if you get it done thru their clinic, then it is cheaper. You still have a board certified plastic surgeon there as the attending, with fellows that are being taught. Not any difference than what usually occurs in the OR in the US. But you do not have to pay the Plastic Surgeon rates, plus if you work at that facility, then there is usually a staff discount also available.
