abbreviations OF nurses

Published

I know med abbrev's for the most part... but I don't know many of the nursing abbrevs. So... is there a list of all the types of nurses and their abbreviations? I love the specialty forums on this board but I know there are many more types of nurses than are found in that forum. If there isn't such a list, lets start one here. Thanks all!

Specializes in Med/Surg, Tele, IM, OB/GYN, neuro, GI.

You can google nursing abbreviations and a list will pop up.

Specializes in SNF.

Many abbreviations are on there way out, at least in the hospitals. Too much risk for error and misinterpretation. JCHO (lol, I know I misspelled that, but I'm brain farting!) is mandating this, at least in our area.

Specializes in ICU, CCU, Trauma, neuro, Geriatrics.

Google the list but there many types of nursing and it will expand as demand and interest grows.

PHRN is not available in all states. Pre hospital RN, you have to be RN and paramedic to obtain this certification.

Are you looking for licensing or certification or both? The initials after a name seem to never end....LOL

Specializes in Education, FP, LNC, Forensics, ED, OB.
