AASU BSN Program JAN 2012

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I just applied for the Nursing Program at Armstrong Atlantic in September. I mailed in my application along with everything else. This will be my second semester trying. Has anyone heard back from them yet? I've been waiting, and just have anxiety over it all over again! I thought last time, they at least mailed me a letter stating that they are reviewing my application, but I haven't heard anything. And now I'm scared that maybe they didn't receive it through the mail...even though nothing was returned or anything. Maybe I'm just freaking myself out due to wanting to get in SO bad! :)

Thanks!

Jen C.

Thanks you made me feel a lot better I hope I am as lucky as you are because there is lot of competition Ms. (moderator edit of name) scared the crap out of me but my new advisor was more laid back and didnt intimidate me as much. Good luck on your journey and if you can find the time please keep me posted. I want to know what to expect.:)

I definitely will hopefully I make it out of BIO 2275 successfully with at least a C, so I can start the program, and once I start I'll definitely keep you posted and good thing you found another advisor because Mrs. (moderator edit of name) told me not to put my all into Armstrong and apply other places with kind of discouraged me.

I thought I was the only one that felt as thought she was a bit discouraging I was planning on taking micro over until I spoke with ms. (moderator edit of name) and another lady who was a bit older they said if i pull an A from psych 2950 then dont worry about it and even if i had a b in pysch still apply first and then see what happens because since i have a's and b's except for micro i still stand a pretty good chance. and plus the classes im taking now will boost my gpa. i felt alot more confident talking to ms. (moderator edit of name) rather than ms. (moderator edit of name). I also felt ms. (moderator edit of name) was sort of setting me up for failure because she told me to apply for the program spring 2012 but i still had statistics and my biology to complete so that would have been really hard and i most likely would have ens up dropping out of it. eveyone knows if you can help it go in with no other classes to take.

I am equally excited about this school, I have been accepted to the program for the spring 2012, Congratulations to all of you. my fingers are crossed to those who did not make this semester. hopefully you will be there next semester never lose hope. I need a partner since this is my first semester AAASU hoping to hear a positive feedback.

cngratulations again the class of spring 2012..you made it! I will see you soon, I can't wait to see you guys:)

I know this is really old, but I hope someone still logs on here. I can't find many Armstrong threads.. I am applying for Fall 2014. Is Armstrong a really small school? I was wondering about how many people apply each semester.. as well as GPAs and TEAS scores.

My GPA will probably be a 3.65 ish after Spring 2014.

My first TEAS V attempt was 81.3% and I only studied a few days before. I even got 100% on a few of the sub-sections! (Mostly math).

I hope someone can shed some light on Armstrong because I can't seem to find any statistics.

Hi!

I'll be graduating in May, 2014. The Armstrong program has about 85 in each cohort. I highly recommend coming to Savannah, visiting the campus and making an appointment to speak with someone in the department. I have loved Savannah and really like the Armstrong campus and the nursing program. It's a small school and Savannah is a small city. I came here from Atlanta and really enjoy the slower pace. Your grades and scores seem definitely competitive. It all depends on the averages of the applicant group you are with. I also think there's an advantage for students who have completed some of their pre-requisite courses at AASU as well. I transferred a year prior to applying in order to take my biology classes at Armstrong. Armstrong has a lot of commuter students. It's not like GCSU or Georgia Southern where a lot of kids live on campus. I liked that there were a lot of non-traditional students (not the majority, but a good number). I'm not sure what else to tell you! You can also visit the school's website and call the nursing department. Good luck with your decision - it's a tough process!

I work with some nurses who graduated from AASU, they're great. :) My significant other is a Bio/pre-med major at AASU and has nothing but good things to say about the school. Savannah is a fabulous city, I love it. I have lived and traveled all over the world, and Savannah is in my top 5 favorite places. I usually live 20 minutes from there when I am not in Afghanistan. :)

That is really helpful, thank you! & Congratulations on your success! I currently live in Atlanta, but I am looking to leave. I can see myself in Savannah, and I am glad Armstrong is small. I'm at Kennesaw State right now, and I won't be able to transfer to Armstrong before my application is due :( I only have 2 classes left though!

I will be planning a weekend trip to Savannah soon, so I can hopefully meet with an advisor! I just need to get accepted into the school first :)

Can you recommend a safe neighborhood/island to live on that has a rent less than, or around 900 dollars?

LunahRN - That is good to hear! Thank you! Do you have any recommendations of where to live?

There are several apartment complexes close to campus and that area is called "Southside". Another nice area is about six miles from campus and towards downtown. The area is "midtown" or Ardsley Park. It's closer to the charming areas of town and there are a lot of SCAD students that rent rooms or small houses in the area. It's also close to both Candler and Memorial Hospitals where you'll be doing clinicals. Some of the nursing students have met their roommates at their orientation. Living on one of the islands is not convenient and probably more expensive. I wish I knew more about what students have done for their living situations. I've been renting a friend's house (my youngest daughter moved with me and she's attending Armstrong as well). While I was still working full-time, I actually went to Kennesaw and Chattahoochee Tech to get some of my prerequisites done!
