I have appreciated all previous posts on this matter ,and just wanted to reach out and ask if anyone has taken the 2016 version (or other other recent versions) of the AANP FNP exam (as most of the other posts are a bit outdated). I am looking for any type of advice on this exam (regarding prep work, or even day of/week of advice. I am currently scheduled to take the exam at the end of this month (in two weeks).
As for prep work thus part I have purchased and completed the Fitzgerald Review, Read Leik's most recent book and done the corresponding questions in the back of the book, and have taken the AANP FNP practice exam on their website, only scoring a 72% (66% is passing on this exam). This of course made me a little more anxious than I already was. After taking the practice exam, I've realized my weak areas and plan to spend some time on those in the next two weeks.
Any other words of advice on this matter, are definitely welcome! Thank you in advance!!
Hi,
I would love to see pictures of your posters if you still have them. My email is [email protected]. Thank you
Hello,
I have enjoyed reading all the posts concerning passing the AANP FNP exam. I have been out of school for a year took the test in October and didn't pass. Been trying to study when I can but work has been so demanding that I have put it off for so long. Anyone out there have any suggestions for studying? I took the PSI test, attended the APEA review in January but now I feel I have purchased so many test banks not sure which ones would be best. Any materials or help is greatly appreciated. Kinda feeling alone and it is so disappointing that I have not retaken or passed yet. My job depends on it. Anyone else feeling that way?
I'm happy to say that I just took the AANP for the second time and PASSED! SUCH a huge relief. I wanted to post on here because reading other peoples posts were extremely helpful. I initially took the Fitzgerald 2.5 day course and failed. I immediately came home and continued studying. I took exam 2 three weeks after taking exam 1. I signed up for APEA's review course with Amelie and found it extremely helpful. I then purchased the Q-Bank and went through all of those questions. I'm convinced that the Q-bank and her course were what allowed me to pass. Exam 2 had many of the same questions as exam 1, so that was also helpful, however I think I had also only remembered 1 or 2 of the questions, so I wasn't able to go home and look up the right answers. After completing every question on the Q-bank, I took the PSI and I got a 70%. I was told that we were supposed to get in the 80's to be ready for the exam, but I only got a 70 and still passed. I couldn't bare to study anymore- felt like I was going crazy! I completed test 2 with 50min to spare and only marked down 12 questions that I was unsure about (much better than the first time around!). After completing the Q-bank questions, I reviewed areas and re-listened to some of Amelie's lectures. Finally, I reviewed all of the points in the back of the Liek book, which were extremely helpful. Know that NSAIDs are bad for renal failure! I feel like I had more than 1 question addressing that. I also kept a running sheet of med interactions, which was helpful to glance at & commit to memory. Hope this helps! Best of luck to everyone studying!
Well I took the AANP exam yesterday and did not pass. I felt I was ready too. I took the online review with Barkley. I have to say I was disappointed with the review. It barely covered what was on the exam. There were X-ray pictures and he stated no pictures. There were a lot of topics that just were not covered. I have a plan B though. I have also registered for the ANCC as well. I purchased as soon as I got home the APEA review course and a new test bank of questions. BoardVitals , 1800 questions unlimited for a month. Anyone take the ANCC would love to get your advice. I have about 1.5 month of studying so I have basics down. I'm a dual role so after FNP on to the AGANCP exam.
I was wondering about the Leik book, I've read some stuff that information in the book is wrong. So i was wondering if anyone who used it to study and passed can clear this up. Is it that the information in the book is wrong or Is is that some of the questions in the back have wrong answers? I just want to know which before I start using it to study. Thanks in advance for anyone who can answer this for me!!
I'm interested in your study material please! [email protected]
