AANP, FNP 2016 Exam

Updated:   Published

I have appreciated all previous posts on this matter ,and just wanted to reach out and ask if anyone has taken the 2016 version (or other other recent versions) of the AANP FNP exam (as most of the other posts are a bit outdated). I am looking for any type of advice on this exam (regarding prep work, or even day of/week of advice. I am currently scheduled to take the exam at the end of this month (in two weeks).

As for prep work thus part I have purchased and completed the Fitzgerald Review, Read Leik's most recent book and done the corresponding questions in the back of the book, and have taken the AANP FNP practice exam on their website, only scoring a 72% (66% is passing on this exam). This of course made me a little more anxious than I already was. After taking the practice exam, I've realized my weak areas and plan to spend some time on those in the next two weeks.

Any other words of advice on this matter, are definitely welcome! Thank you in advance!!

Congrats on passing, so happy for you pla84!!! Ive been doing all the things you have suggested and have no idea what i am doing wrong!!! Can't seem to pass the exam!!!! I've taken apea review twice already and online. doing questions, listening to the lectures, did the PSI and aanp practice exams. Don't know what to do anymore?!?!?! Any specific topics or questions that you remember that were on the exam? I know there are a ton of questions and 2 different versions of the exam. But maybe it will give an idea where to focus. Thanks

You think you might be thinking too much into the questions? I think the exam that I took covered pretty much a little bit of everything. I feel like I was asked too many of what I don't know much about which is the eye. Memorize the keywords of the characters of the exam results and match with the diagnosis. Then you'll figure out what's the treatment you're going to choose. Before looking at the choices, keywords that was given in the questions ask yourself what diagnosis is that and what you know about that diagnosis and go with the answer that match what you know. For example you know your patient has mono what do you know about mono and what Dr. Hollier said about mono like oh no PCN, the 3 Fs, splenomegaly, and etc... and with that one. Don't even think that other choices can possibly be correct too. I admit that there are good amount of questions that I completely have NO clue about. Also I took the FNP so almost all patients in the questions either frail older adults, pregnant, or peds, barely any young healthy adults.

Good luck!

The first 90+ pages of Fitzgerald's New (5th ed) Review book). Read it before they pull it from Google Play.... Good Luck

thank you guys!!!!

Hi,

Thanks so much for all of your awesome tips. I have finally decided that I will test in 1 month, I finished my program in mid February, but have not been motivated to study. Reading your testimony have helped a lot. Can you please email diagrams, etc.. to [email protected]. Thanks again

Would you be willing to send me pictures of the posters you made? I am scheduled to take the AANP in mid may. Thank you!

Hi! Is it possible for you to share your Fitzgerald mp3 files through Google drive? Or however else those files can be sent. I'm willing to pay. I've been looking for FNP review stuff that in mp3 form so I can download it on my phone and listen to it everywhere.

A-NP-2-B-2016 Could you please send me the pictures? My email is [email protected]

If anyone needs help let me know. Passed first attempt. 3 weeks of study approximately 3 hrs per day. I listened to hollier review in my car on my way to my long commute to work also while picking up and dropping kids off for various activities. I used leik and Fitzgerald text books. I didn't find it easy with the amount of studying I did, but doable. But if I can help in anyway feel free to email me [email protected]

Hi Athomas0089..!! I'm looking to take the AANP exam in the next 3 months and have been out of school for the past year. I'm sending you an email to your Yahoo account. I have some specific questions and I want to see if you can assist me. Thank you for your thoughts.

Congrats Pla84 for passing the exam. I'm looking in taking the AANP in the next 3-4 months but have been out of school for the past year. I'm looking for some guidance in how to structure studying for boards. Plus, wondering if you have it broken down into disease/disorder, what to look for in each, and the test/work-up needed. Any other helpful hints/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your thoughts..
