AANP failed

Published

Hello,

Today I took the AANP FNP exam and failed after 3 months of intense studying. I completed the Fitzgerald review course. I'm very upset. Any tips?

Yes, the Leik book is a necessity and I recommend it to all FNP students preparing for the test. I too took the Fitzgerald, and while she's an excellent teacher and provides a quality presentation helpful to our practice, if I had just used her review solely, I would have surely failed. I used a combo of Fitzgerald, Barkley and Leik. In retrospect, I would have just used Barkley and Leik to prepare for the AANP exam. However, I have purchased some additional programs from Fitzgerald to benefit my practice because she's great at explaining the concepts implementing them in practice. Focus on Leik now, take a deep breath, and you'll do great when you test next!

Hi, I'm studying for the exam also! I have a few questions for you, will you send a Private Message?

I am sorry to hear this. I took the exam and used Barkley review to study, I had his CDs and workbook, (please do not solicit to buy/sell items per TOS) and I took his review course. Barkley was SPOT ON with the topics we would see, Also, I used LEIK to study. Her book was a God send,

If I can be of any help to you, please PM me. My fellow students and I studied together using Skype. Don't give up!

I highly recommend the Leik book. In addition, Barclay has a question bank that was helpful. Don't be hard on yourself. The test is very hard.

Some other things that helped me was not studying stressed. And reading the last sentence of the question and the answers (Leik tips). Take some time off and be kind to yourself. You will pass this hurdle. You are definitely not alone.

hello,

can you email me @ [email protected]. I can not do pm.

Thanks for that text above very kind and encouraging my school was also horrible at prep they really dropped the ball. I too failed the AANP test last month and was devestated ! Im re-grouping now using Leik and fitzgerald

Did anyone do the 15 CEU hours in their lowest area of of success? Mine was diagnosis and I keep trying to find out what kind of CEU I should take for that so I can sign up to retest but the AANP told me to take what I felt was appropriate and when I sign up for re-test they will either approve or NOT approve the class WHAT ? How does that work. What a bummer

Go to the AANP website. They have free CEUs for members. I would look at areas that focus on diagnosis.

My school is very difficult with exams going into such minute detail and obscure questions. I resented this at first, but I can pick up a review book and it is total cake! One of the reasons I selected my current school was that they boasted a 100% pass rate. I have friends that graduated from Walden and have failed their boards a few times. I guess you get what you pay for in some cases.

Thanks very much I did just that last night and I'm chugging along on the CEU tract ...... Does anyone know of a study group in the Nyc area ? I need some serious help or a tutor or something ? I'm a good student just working full time family etc no longer in school distracted !!!!!!

I don't live in NYC but would be willing to help via e-mail if you are interested. I passed the AANP on my first try and did not attend any reviews. I know how hard it is to study with a family.

How generous! Thanks how can we communicate ?
