AACN ACNPC-AG boards

Published

I'm scheduled to take my ACNP-AG boards through the AACN in a few weeks. Has anyone taken it recently? If so, how is the test layed out? Is it all multiple choice? Also, are there specific drug dosing questions? I can't seem to find any information regarding the test. Any suggestions would be great.

Hello Dr. KP,

I haven't taken the exam yet. I was trying to get insight before the exam to tailor my studying. Good luck on your exam.

can you email me what you know?

Jnewman435,

I've been studying for the AACN exam and starting to stress. Are there a lot of med questions or just diagnosing diseases? I looked back at Barkley and all the meds. Do you think the test is similar to the CCRN exam? Thank you for your help

Hi - I took the AGACNP less than 2 years ago. I'll be very honest with you- I took the Barkley course and I truly felt like it didn't help me with the test at all. I passed first time but I found it to be incredibly difficult. Others in my class found Barkley to be helpful though.

Reggaemuffin,

Do you have any tips for studying for this exam?

How were the questions? Were they more clinical?

A lot of scenario type questions.. Don't expect many "memorization" type questions. Dont want to intimidate you, just wanted to give a heads up. Also just as an aside, I love being an NP - it is a better fit for me by far than bedside nursing ever was! So you've chosen a great profession!

Thanks for the response. I took the AACN boards and passed, thank God! The test was more clinical and similar to the CCRN I think. Dr. KP I would recommend studying a CCRN book or questions from the AACN

I will try to find a CCRN book.

Thanks, jnewman for the encouragement also. The test was more clinical and I preferred that version over the AANC board exam.

Has anyone taken the aacn acnp-ag cerification yet. Is the free review course with the exam purchase enough to study ?

thanks

Just took ACNPC-AG through AACN and passed first attempt!

There are questions for cardiac surgery and management. Also quite a few ventilator questions. There are also good number of ethical questions but not too complicated. I studied their review course and "PASS CCRN" book especially for management of patients after cardiac surgery. If you are a cardiac surgery nurse it would not be that hard but it was little overwhelming for me to understand the concepts. Finally its all done!!! Good luck to everyone who decides to take this exam. Good thing is if you do not pass you can take it 4 times a year without much waiting period or CEUs except whatever it takes to re-apply which is$200 and 1-2 weeks.
