I'm scheduled to take my ACNP-AG boards through the AACN in a few weeks. Has anyone taken it recently? If so, how is the test layed out? Is it all multiple choice? Also, are there specific drug dosing questions? I can't seem to find any information regarding the test. Any suggestions would be great.

I am also interested to know more about the test. I am scheduled to take it soon and I have not been able to find out much about it. Based on the low first time pass rate I am feeling very nervous.
I wish I could give you tips on it, but I can't find anything online. It's like a big mystery to me. Were you able to at least get the free study guide when you applied? Good luck on your test!
I have some insight if you want it. email me at [email protected] if interested.

Hello,
I am new to the allnurses site. I'm also studying for my ACNP-AG boards and any insight you have will be greatly appreciated. I printed out the blue print from the AACN's website but I'm still nervous.
Thanks
It's hard because they don't share much with you. There is a 50 question practice test that is helpful as to how the questions are laid out. Just know the blue print well, especially the cardiac and pulmonary/ventilator areas. I used one of the CCRN practice study books and the ACNP practice test from Sally Miller to study. That is how the questions are- They give the info in the question (but they won't give the dx) and then ask you how to treat, ect. I liked it more compared to the ANCC because there not that many ethical question and they were "to the point" clinical questions. Good luck
Thank you for the prompt response. I've been studying Barkley and some of my old CCRN notes. I'll order the book by Sally Miller. Thank you for your help.
No problem. Just know that Barkley covers more than what is on AACN. For example, don't focus on eye disorders, burns, or anything that isn't on the AACN blueprint. Also, the AACN offers a free online course that is helpful. Don't get caught up on studying the "synergy" stuff either. Best of luck
I was sitting here trying to organize my notes. I've taken the AANC test in the past and didn't pass it. I'm glad to know it's more like the CCRN. I chose this exam b/c no research and I will not review the screening stuff either. Studying for a certification exam is stressful. Thank you again for you insight.
I was in your shoes a month ago. Just remember that it's just a test and it doesn't show how good of a nurse you are. It's just another hoop to jump through. It's a temporary inconvenience that we encounter. You'll pass! Here's a little video that helped me get pissed to pass it... https://youtu.be/NNZNJAURqRw it should be "Do IT- motivational video featuring RSD tyler
Great video! I like the beginning when they're at the competition. The club scene was ok, but I get the point. I'm back at reviewing material. Thanks again. Have a great day!
