A&P and Chemistry

Published

Hello, I am currently a MA student who is getting the prerequisites and general education classes for nursing out of the way. Would it be too hard to take A&P and Chemistry at the same time? I plan to take them at the same time next semester and then my MA extern and A&P 2 this Spring with another MA class and Microbiology next Summer. Does this sound plausible?

Congratulations on pursuing your nursing career. It's possible to take both classes, but there are many factors to really know if its doable for you. A&P is a class that's weighs a lot for admission criteria and you want to strive for ALL prerequisites with a 4.0 GPA. Would you have time to study to get an A for two heavy classes? ( not saying its heavy for you but statistically most people say science classes are challenging) only you will know what you can and can not handle ? wish you the best!

Okay, thank you for replying and being honest! I'll probably not take those two together after giving it some thought, I failed anatomy and physiology once before so I will need to get the best grade possible to get accepted.

Your welcome Savannah! ?

If you failed Anat & Phys, then I would highly recommend you take Chemistry by itself. Don't even try to take any other class w/ it. In my opinion, Chemistry is a lot harder to grasp for most people than Anat & Phys. What I have noticed is Chemistry is where a lot of people tank and/or have to withdraw and take again.

Ohh my.... I see, I will not take it with anatomy and physiology then.

I am currently taking both AP1 and Chem. They both require a lot of studying but you can do it with good time management. It’s not easy but I’m glad that I am taking these two together rather than Micro and AP2 or Chem. You can do whatever you put your mind to. Good luck!

It is doable, but plan on dedicating a good amount of time to studying. I usually recommend no more than 2 science classes per term since I do not want students to get overwhelmed.
