Hi all:
Any advice on how to deal with a mean LPN, who happens to hold the same title as me. For I am an LPN also. This LPN has been one for 27yrs. Me 9yrs. She's sarcastic behind my back, tells others I don't know what I'm doing. when in fact I am confident in all my abilities. And so is the Don. I've been a charge nurse in a LTC Facility for 7yrs and know my clinical nursing like the back of my hand. I have tried to play the roll, kill her with kindness, but it doesn't seem to be working. I act on all my pts needs, wants and ailments.
She has been the only nurse in this facility for 8yrs. Could I be a threat to her?:angryfire
Any comments,
Tia

I've had the same thing happen to me. I had another co-worker tell me that you know so and so is saying this and that...basically the same thing that is happening to you.
I just smiled and basically ignored it. The reason is IMO it makes the other person look bad...not me and not you.
What I used to tell my son when he'd come home from grade school in tears because bullies teased him about his crooked teeth........"You know honey...those people doing that are very sad miserable people. Instead of anger you need to feel sorry for someone that has to make others miserable to be able to feel something. " Soon he was coming home saying "Oh Mom I really feel sorry for so and so he was saying bad things about my teeht."
Get my point? :)
I do get your point. And your sooooo right. I do in all honesty feel sorry for her.
Thanx so much!

I think she does feel threatened by you for whatever reason. She feels inferior and the only way to raise herself up is to put you down. I would totally ignore her except when you have to talk to her. No hate looks, no smiles just matter of factly and go on about your business. She ends up looking like an idiot and the one who signs your check (DON) is already confident about your skills.
