A doctor asking you to give him a cup of coffee!!

Nurses General Nursing

Hi Everyone:

I have a silly question to ask....

We have a doc who is handicap and walks with crutches. I dont have a clue what happened to him. He is always rude and mean with his patients and nursing staff....anyhow yesterday I was working and I was taking care of one of his patients. He asked me if we made any coffee and I told him, we may have some old coffee. Then I got busy with my patients and when I came back to the nurses station he asked me where was his coffee??

I did not know how to respond....I did not feel comfortable with giving him coffee because he has this "thing" about taking nurses out!! He thinks all female nurses are after him...!! Then again I felt bad becuase he is a handicap and perhaps I should have helped him:(....what would you have done in my situation??

Thanks

Normally I would say just get the guy a cup of coffee, but since he makes a point of being rude to nurses, in this case I would have just said, "I don't know, you need to check with your waitress."

I would have probably just gotten him the coffee and left it at that. We have a grouchy, sarcastic, arrogant doctor that comes to our nursing home once a week...I always have a cup of coffee and some cookies waiting for him. He always brings me drug rep pens and post-its and whatever else drug rep stuff he gets...and he gives it to me specifically just because I get him coffee and cookies.

I would have brought the coffee to him. It is not beneath me to do that.

Whether they were rude or not previously would not have been my concern. I tend to have the philosophy each day is a new day. Nor the fact that he had crutches have been why I would bring him coffee.

I would bring coffee to anyone who asked no matter who they are and as long as I am not in a crisis situation. It has little to do with being a waitress, it is simply one human being to another.

I would either tell them where the coffee was or get him a cup of it. He wasn't demanding one or being rude when asking. And if he's on crutches I would prob would have gotten it just to help him out a bit as crutches stink. lol
