Good luck!
Heh. You wouldn't want to hear what I do all day. Mostly I sit around reading a book until a patient comes in then I go back to reading said book. I don't know how long I can manage this.
What type of facility do you work at, goofeegirl? Sounds like a minute clinic/ convenient care clinic. I've always imagined working in one of those types of clinics , even if the autonomy is said to be "limited". Maybe after I for some years of practice else where.
Get to work at 0500 to read all labs and write notes based on those for the staff to get with the pt for yz and f/u. Read al of the notes from staf for me - med refills, referral request etc. Read all notes from referral providers. see 16 routine appointment and 4 to 6 acutes plus walk-ins, hopefully get a few minor procedures done during the day and catch a few more involved ones to schedule for another day. Rinse lather repeat. Every day is groudhog day all over again. Except when on call, then I get to do it 24/7 for a week. Be careful what you ask for...

I work in physical medicine which is like integrative health. The practice needs a NP to remain open so I'm just window dressing most of the time.
I don't know what CAM stands for but the rest describes my practice. All I do is the health assessments, joint and trigger point injections. They have people working on the floor and honestly it doesn't interest me. I fell into this field and at first enjoyed it but it's pretty boring when I sit for over an hour without a patient and just read a book. I do feel like I've lost a lot of the skills and knowledge that I acquired in school. On the other hand, it's low stress and it pays well. Unless something spectacular comes along I'm sticking it out.

I was wondering if any of the NP's here would like to post a breakdown of a typical workday. My goal is to become a FNP and I would love to see what I'd be getting into.
Thanks!
