Im currently in family practice, i am new NP and have realized the importance of which we FNP's playl I do alot of acute problems, but also do alot of routine physical, well child checks, pap smears, and routine medical follow ups.

thank you all for your feedback and traumaRUs I completely understand what you are saying. I am doing the best I can and I just want to do what is best for my patients. I guess I have been a bit over sensitive - I guess with the transition and frustration of feeling like I'm not doing good enough has played into my response. Please understand and again... Thank you all for your SUPPORT and hopefully not thinking I am the one who needs the psych meds hahahahahah

It saddens me that as far as we have come we still like to make the ones less experianced wonder what the hell it is we are doing. I appreciate the intro "please don't take this the wrong way".. If I truly had someone or somewhere to refer my psych pts to don't you think I'm smart enough to do so. shame on me for thinking I could come into a peer posting and seek advice. this is why NP's will never have the respect of our profession..we can't even respect each other enough!

I posted a post earlier about all the psych pts I am encountering in my practice. I have bought the books that were suggested.. I wanted to know if anyone out there had any advice on the treatment of depression, anxiety, and sleep medications...which do you prefer?? how do you decide which to try on different patients?

I originally posted this yesterday but apparently it was lost in the database issues they had last night. I am a new np working in a family practice. Alot of my pts have depression and other psych issues I need help on how to manage, switching medications or which would be best for certain types of psych issues, etc. I feel so defeated sometimes! How long did it take you to feel comfortable in your position to where you didnt feel as though you had to look everything up?? Does this NP thing ever get any easier???
