A&P1 vs A&P2

Published

For anyone who says that A&P2 is easier than A&P1...well, I don't think so....I think it is even harder. I am getting ready for my first lab exam Monday and first lecture exam the Friday after. This is at least as BAD as A&P1 despite the fact that I have a much better teacher and much nicer classmates. I am studying my butt off for this class

I am thinking A&P 2 will be harder. We are having our first regular class exam Monday.

Good luck on your lab test.

What chapters are you currently covering.

Our lab test will be the heart, model and real heart...know all coronary arteries, blood typing, WBCcount, identify WBC under microscope, all kinds of general stuff about blood etc.

Our lecture test is about blood and Immune system, he loooooves the immune system and is killing us with it :(

We are just doing blood and the heart. Things started out kind of slow, but I am sure we will pick things up. I have been studying for a nutrition exam for tomorrow, but after that, I will give A&P 100%. We went over a study guide he handed out today, just to make sure we had the right answeres. A group of us have gotten together and done some really good studying, so I feel like I will be ok.

We are not having any lab tests at all, but just looking at slides and drawing and answering questions. I would think that should be an easy A for lab. :wink2:

Wow no lab tests! We will have 3 lab tests and 4 lecture tests. Each lecture/lab test counts equal. We'll have 7 all together and we can drop one.

I'll go in this morning and study the real heart, make sure I know where all the bloodvessels are located etc. At least he is very helpful and will be present in the study lab this morning in case we have questions. I feel sorrry for people in my class who don't have time to study outside the class, it's just not enough exposure to get it all just by doing it once in class. I will also review the blood slides so that I can identify the WBC correctly. I am hopeful that my effort will pay off and that I will do well. I guess my biggest fear is to study hard and not do well enough.

Specializes in Critical Care.

I agree that A&P 1is a lot easier. Wait until you get to the edocrine system; there is nothing worse.

Good luck and use the intenet for help. There are a lot of Anatomy web pages out there.

I have the best a and p instructor ever. I had her for a&p1 and had to petition to get into her 102 class. She is awesome, and you really learn. We had the most incredible lab today. I cannot believe how much I learned about cardiac today. We had 4 hours and a couple of us stayed after class to go over our notes. I always feel really prepared for the tests because we work so hard in lab. She does not let us out early and we have to dissect everything and explain to her what we are dissecting. I am loving this class!

For you that have to identify your white blood cells, here is what helped me:

Monocyte (starts with an M: nucleus looks like an M,some say a kidney shape)

Neutrophil (starts with an N: it is on the scene NOW, when you need it, also starts with an N so it has a NUMBER of lobes)

Lymphocyte (starts with a L--large nucleus)

Basilphil (looks like you just spread basil or some herb on it--very granular)

eosinophil (not much to help remember here, it is just the last of the 5 and it is bilobed)

Hope this makes sense. I got a 98 on my exam by remembering little details like this.

Now for cardiac

Arteries--starts with A--leads blood AWAY from the heart

Veins--the opposite--is coming into the heart

As you can see I just try to remember something with the first letter that I can identify with the subject. It may be crazy but it is working for me!

Thanks for the great tips! I loved the "Basil" :wink2:

Usually in combined A&P classes, like I and II, it doesn't really get progressivly harder, but maybe to certain people certain systems of the body are harder to learn (such as endocrine vs. cardiac, ect..).

You see for me I took pre-med anatomy and pre-med physiology last year instead of A&P I, but my new school is making me take A&P II, so it's not really that hard for me anymore because they crammed a ton of stuff in those two classes I took last year.

So I'm new to A&P I guess (combined thing). My tip to you would just be to read the entire chapter (all chapters relating to the next test) and then go back and just hit the big points. It's just a lot of reading.

Oh, but for the record, labs suck. I'm not saying their hard, but we're nursing students, or pre-nursing, and we don't need to know how to disect a damn pig heart!!! Sorry, haha...

Good luck!

I thought A&P 2 was harder, but more interesting.
