A&P not for me?

I struggled through A&P; worse with Physiology (had to take 2x) and although Micro was difficult, I made it through that very well. Probably had to do with the great instructor we had. You're not alone! Keep plugging away! :)

I got an "A" in Physio, but it was hard hard. I am taking Anatomy this semester. But in regards to your post, don't give up! I was in that same situation with Microbiology. I droped the class because my teacher was awful. I went home and stoped by my parents house and cried to my mother all my sorrows about how I was too stupid to be a nurse...and I am a grow woman!

I just re-took the class with a different teacher and got an "A" in the class. I can say that the teacher makes all the difference. When it comes to science classes, some are ment to teach and others (like my first teacher) are ment to be lab rats! :rotfl:

It's a tough class.

I consider A&P the backbone of nursing. If you can't grasp it and aren't interested in it, then I would say nursing is not for you.

If on the other hand, it's just a tough course for you and you can pass it, then do whatever it takes to make it through, if you really want to be a nurse.

is it just me, or did any of you struggle with a&p as well? i'm thinking about just giving up on my dream of being a nurse. i'm doing well in everything else i'm taking, but a&p is driving me insane. i'm starting to think maybe i'm not cut out for this line of duty because of that class.

no no no, it is not just you! there are so many people that struggled and took it until they nailed it. you have to find your forte and maybe a&p is not. take me for example, i can remember when taking chemistry the nights i would be studying with tears in my eyes because i could not seem to concentrate or understand it. (very unusual of me i must say), but i stuck with it and gave it all my best and ended pulling a b+. to me it is equivalent to an a+ because of all the hard work i put into it. again, this was my worst and a&p, seems to be my forte but then again not everyone is the same.

please don't consider calling it quits because of a class. yes, it might be agony for a few weeks if you don't like it but you can do it, trust me you can.

I greatly appreciate the offer for assistance and the encouragement. Believe me, I need it.

I think my biggest problem has been the fact that I decided to take the lecture portion of the class online. Big mistake. I have had zero contact with the teacher. And the class mostly works by me reading the book and taking quizes. It's extremely hard for me to "self-teach" myself A&P at this rate.

My second problem is that I took the class in a shortened format (6 weeks instead of the normal 16). I thought I new what I was getting into when I signed up for it, but I guess not.

I'm thinking about just dropping the class and taking it again in the fall in the "traditional" format. That will be tough for me since I have to travel to the campus and I have small children which would require a sitter, but I don't see what other options I have. I view A&P as the basic structure of nursing (with everything else building off of it). So I know I have to get the basics down first.

Are you studying to become and LPN and if so is the A&P Class online??? The reason I ask is because I myself if thinking on going to a private school to become and LPN and most of my classes are on line...

when you went to New England Institute school did you did the day program or the night program and if you did do the night program was it difficult doing some the class online???
