I am having problems remembering all of the parts of the cranium cavity. My test is going to be like..look at a picture...that that part. No word bank. I printed out a a fill-in-the blank sheet of paper to practice with, and I went to lab and looked at the models which didn't help at all. I couldn't differential all the little 'formans' and 'processes'. Test is on tuesday, an help/advice would be WONDERFUL!

Is that all the test is going to be on? the cranium cavity, no other bones? This is the entire head right? It really is not bad, expecially if you are using a picture, we did them, along with all the other bones in the body and histology for ours, on skeletons that are really in bad shape.
Just study study study. Study for about 1/2 hour then take a break and come back, do that until you know about half, then study the second half the next day along with the stuff you already know. You'll be suprised how much you learn.
A forammen is a hole: foramen magnum, spinal foramen, transverse foramen interverbal foramen...
A process is what a fossa articulates with:the olecranon fossa of the humerus works with the olecranon processes of the Ulna.

I made up mnemonics. For the 7 bones of the eye socket for instance..
Every zoo finds stinky little monkey poop
Ethmoid
zygomatic
frontal
sphenoid
lacrimal
maxilla
palatine
It's a year and a half later and I still remember! LOL
Thanks so much everyone. HeartsOpen- Its actually a lab quiz, the skull is the only part freaking me out so far, but it also includes the rest of the axial region(I think I'm saying that correct) Going-thanks for the links :) Achoo!-I'll def use that!
Okay-back to studying-bye

Once you get the skull down the rest is a peice of cake, hang in there! (I just took my lab exam on the bones and got an A, after hours of studying) What I found helpful, since I am a hands on learner, was to run my finger over the bone and repeat the name of the bone five times..."Crista gali, crista gali, crista gali..." then I would go on to the next one adding one more at a time but still saying the ones I already went over..."Crib reform plate, crib reform plate....ethmoid air cells ethmoid air...."

Ilearned bones a little bit dfferently. I googled pictures of the skull and every other bone in the body. Made lots of copies to glue to notecards and made flashcards
