A&P 1, microbio, & psychology

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

OR... A&P 1, chemistry 1, & psychology?

I am wondering is it do-able with a very part time job (self-employed)? I wasn't that sharp in high school with sciences but that's because I was incredibly irresponsible at the time, on top of having mediocre teachers.

Trying to figure out how I should pair what I have left because I'm done with all my other general education courses. I have the sciences left and I want to maintain a full-time school schedule.

Your opinions?

Thanks in advance!!

I did A&P 1, Psych, Chem 1, and Nutrition this semester. Didn't have much of a social life but dots totally doable.

Are any of these with labs?

For someone who works I don't think these schedules should be done. Hahaha. Too much of an overload.

I'm in a similiar situation with not many gen-eds/pre-reqs left. I didn't always know I was going the nursing route so a lot of my gen-eds were done before hand while working towards an entirely different degree. So I basically only have the sciences left, and the way it's going to play out is having only A&P 2 left with micro-bio. I'm HOPING that maybe micro-bio will be an option over the winter semester so I don't have to take it with A&P 2 in the spring. But even that is scary because I know winter semester is wicked short. It is what it is though, and I'm just going to have to make it happen.

I'm planning on being able to start studying for the TEAS as soon as this semester is over and I think I should be able to study over the summer semester since I'm only taking stats and develop. psych. The first option to take the TEAS for my school is in October, with only one more option before the start I want for the nursing program.

Just going to keep going forward and keep my fingers crossed.

I think it's doable.

Go with A&P + Micro + Psych.

I think it's likely that the A&P and Micro will have overlapping material. And I think Micro is easier than Chem.

I took Micro with lab and Physiology (3 classes) all at once over 5 weeks in which I had class all day for 5 days a week, all while working from home (I am in Real Estate so I used weekends to meet clients when needed, and just did paperwork/phone/emails at home during the week). I got 2 A's and a B during this time, but it was a lot of work and time management. And you probably will need to be sure to keep on top of studying regularly and not fall behind.

Do you know who your teachers will be? Maybe you can find out how tough they are to see how demanding the course load will be.

I know when I took Psych it was super easy, I barely studied 2 hours per week and still got an A. But maybe I got lucky with my teacher I picked.

Good luck!

Thank you for the update janellybelly. I have four science pre-reqs to go, and want to get them done by the end of Fall semester so I can apply to the nursing program in Spring. I plan on taking Anatomy and Chemisty (both with labs) during the summer. I hope it is not too overwhelming. In the Fall I will be taking Physiology and Microbiology (both with labs as well). I have the summers off, but will be back to work in the Fall. I also have 4 children. I hope I am not taking on too much, but I really want to get these pre-reqs finished!
